Even with an in house mix system, we avoid attempting matches of one off, unknown colors. It's a super time intensive process, with no assurance of result. But sometimes, a few rounds of mixing, performing sprayouts, eyeballing, and hand tinting yields very exciting results! Definitely a satisfying end to a productive week.

Raising a Ruckus!

In house black/purple pearl basecoat mix does an awesome job creating this purple peek a boo flop effect. Since these parts sit super low and are partly hidden, we opted for the slightly brighter of 2 custom formulations to give the purple some oomph.

A minor tool failure led to a surprising and happy discovery this week, so now we're sorta 4 step polishing vs 3 stepping. And, wowza, that luster is worth the extra time! A perfect finish for this Chieftain in stock Black Metallic, which blings like a diva in sunshine!

Theron's '75 Honda 550K

Christmas is coming a few days early for this owner! Since Theron got out of heavier bikes, he rides the wheels off this lightweight, cafe racer styled Honda, which was passed down by its original owner, his uncle. However, 50ish yrs post production, she was ready for a spa date.

We straightened 3 tank dents, stripped side fairings, did a little plastic repair, and sprayed 2 rounds of primer. Black tank panels were pretty straightforward, but we had zero intel on the 1975 oem tri-stage (lacquer?!) paint. However, 6 coats of HOK wet bed/tangerine koncentrate/super silver wet metallics mix over 3 coats HOK Ultra Orange is very, very close. Fussy 4 stripe sticker required 4 distinct razor cuts per side and was applied over clearcoat, per oem spec.

We love a fun classic (they don't make gas caps like that anymore!), and we love an easygoing owner who comes with replacement badges and stickers in hand! Thanks, Theron!
