Not all oil leaks are simple.

This 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 came in with an oil leak that turned out to be a rear main seal. This seal sits at the back of the engine where it meets the transmission.

To repair it correctly the transmission has to be removed so we can access the crankshaft seal and reseal the engine properly.

These leaks are common on higher mileage trucks and if ignored they can lead to major oil loss and contamination of other components.

If you’re seeing oil spots in the driveway or noticing your oil level dropping, it’s worth having it inspected.
