If you are getting ready to plant your yards or containers, please stop by the McKean Plant Sale. The Communication Pathways students have made a great video of the flowers and vegetables that are available for sale and the students have grown every single seedling themselves. No big corporation, no wholesaler, etc. The money benefits students . Give it a try! I've loved everything I've purchased there.

A great opportunity to help McKean High School earn money for classroom supplies!

The New Castle County Department of Special Services on a pledge drive to promote proper disposal of cooking grease, oils and fats. Any resident of New Castle County can make the pledge, and they then assign it to a New Castle County School. At the end of the pledge drive, May 22, the schools with the most pledges win gift certificates they can use to purchase classroom materials.

Please consider sharing news of the pledge drive on your own page to help us get the word out and make sure anyone who would like to participate gets the chance.

Do your part to stop water pollution and improve your kids' schools! New Castle's "Great Schools, Clean Streams" campaign is open!

Just point your browser to www.GreatSchoolsCleanStreams.org before the pledge drive ends on May 22nd and pledge to put your used cooking grease in the trash, not down the drain. Participating is easy, it takes just three minutes of your time.

The ten New Castle County schools with the most pledges will win gift certificates to pay for educational projects and classroom materials. This project is supported by the New Castle County Department of Special Services. Working together with local schools, they hope to encourage residents to “can the grease” to protect the sewer system, reduce water pollution, and help you avoid having to call the plumber.
