When 13-year-old Mason Skees was badly injured in a dirt bike accident, Deputy AJ Rees laid down on the ground beside him.

He held Mason’s hand and talked him through the pain until medical crews could help.

Mason never shed a tear.

His femur was shattered into more than 50 pieces.

He lost a significant amount of blood and endured four surgeries, but doctors were able to save his leg.

After nine long days in the hospital, Mason is finally home.

Today, Deputy Rees stopped by to see him again… bringing snacks, an Xbox gift card, and a donation from his church.

More than that, he sat with Mason, and the two once again held hands… just as they did in that critical moment.

This time, though, it wasn’t in fear.

It was in hope.

A reminder that while Mason has a long road to recovery, he doesn’t have to walk it alone ❤️
