Cutting the Carpet

We talked laying the carpet now let’s talk cutting. Getting the cut seam to hide so it is not noticeable is the end goal here. I think most folks would agree the cleaner the lines the higher quality the look of a carpeted sub box. Laying the two sides that meet and cutting them together gets this cut really close so they touch and hide after pressing everything in place. Giving the carpet a good brushing helps all the lines fade away so you are left with a great looking carpeted enclosure.

Laying the Carpet

Laying carpet is a bit more complex than just slapping some on the box. First Landon checks the pile of the carpet to get it even with the design of the sub box. Next getting a smooth even coat of good glue on the box and carpet is pivotal in a long-lasting product. Finally pressing the two together and working the carpet into the curves and groves without stretching it too much and causing thin spots. These skills all take time to get it right and depending the enclosure the cuts and seams can get tricky to look good.

1995 Ford F350 XLT Big Audio Upgrade

This truck needed a full audio overhaul. The only thing to stay was the already replaced radio deck. So, the point was to have quality full sound with minimum displacement and storage loss. The rear seat had to come up a bit for the sub and amps to be tucked under. The Wavtech link300.4 mini and link500.1 mini are mounted in the section made just for them in the sub box. The sealed section was designed to hold the Audison 10-inch. A pair of Arc Audio 502 coaxial speaker went into the doors and 572 coaxial int the rear pillars to fill out the cab. This build gave the customer exactly what they were after full, clean and loud.

Windows are a big thing now days and who can blame them. Many audio enthusiast like to see the subs dance. When that much money is in the subs it is kind of nice to see them in action.
