Yesterday IMRT Towing & Heavy Truck Repairs hazmat response division was requested on a Hazmat incident into Ocean Twp. For the Moffett style forklift whose main hydraulic tank ruptured and caused a spill of around 40-50 gallons. The spill was quickly contained with non absorbent style booms and speedy dry to stop the flow of hydraulic oil towards the storm drain in close proximity to the spill. After the spill was contained and the forklift removed from the area. We deployed a Vermeer 500 gallon vac trailer to deal with the clean up and return the roadway to pre spill quality. We contacted our friends at GET WET for the use of their hot water power washing system and ground cleaning device to remove any excess fluids from the asphalt and prevent and/or remove the staining caused by the oil. All run off from the power washing was contained to the boom area and suctioned up by the vac trailer. The job was completed and the roadway reopened.
