Your car is like a clingy girlfriend.

It needs five different things from you at all times, and if you ignore any one of them, you're going to hear about it.

Here are the 5 liquids you should keep an eye out for.

First, oil. For lubrication.

Change it based on what type of oil you use.

Second, coolant. It cools your engine.

Change it every 30k to 100k miles.

Third, transmission fluid. It allows your car to shift.

Change it every 60k miles.

Fourth, differential fluid.

It can get contaminated with water.

Change it every 50k miles.

Finally, and most importantly, windshield wiper fluid.

It keeps your windshield clean.

Refill it whenever you're running low.

Take care of all five and your car will last.

Forget about one and you'll find out which the hard way.

This is one of the most overlooked things in your car...

You car drives through some pretty disgusting air.

Pollen, dirt, water, etc.

And thankfully most cars have the ability to clean that out.

They use something called a cabin air filter.

However, it gets dirty.

Really dirty.

And when it gets dirty, it stops working.

It stops filtering the air that you breathe in.

To keep you air clean, make sure you replace it every 15k miles, or once a year, whichever comes first.

This is the fluid almost everybody forgets about...

We've had some pretty heavy rain in East Texas recently.

That rain can do a lot more damage to your car than you think.

Not only does it make it harder to see...

Increasing the chances of a crash,

But it can also make its way into your differential.

This can be devastating.

Water and differential fluid do not mix.

When they do, it starts to break down, which shows on your parts.

If you've been driving around water recently, it's smart to get it checked out.

Best case: nothing's wrong.

Worst case: We catch it and remove the contamination before something bad can happen.

Don't wait until it breaks.

Your cabin air filter keeps the air you breathe in clean.

However, it can get dirty.

Really dirty.

And the dirtier it is, the less it's able to stop dirt from getting through.

This allows dirt to get on the evaporator, which is covered in water.

The dirt gets wet, sticks to the evaporator, and becomes a perfect spot for mold to grow.

Mold that you breathe in.

Make sure you change your air filter every 15k mile to stop this from happening.

Engineers are DESTROYING engines to get more performance.

Here's how.

Turbocharged engines have one big issue.

Turbo lag.

When you step on the gas, it takes a bit for the car to produce enough exhaust to get the turbo up to speed.

To solve this lag, they have to keep it spinning.

To do this, they delayed the engine timing so the combustion happens while the exhaust valves are open.

This kept the turbo spinning, but also led to more problems.

This wears out your exhaust manifold a lot faster.

The good news is, the anti-lag system is probably not in your car.

It's mainly used in racing, and most street cars don't have it.
