Don't fall for this trick...

Some shops trick into spending more money.

How?

By seeing a cheap fix,

a $20 leak, a simple air filter, etc.

and ignoring it.

Not even letting you know.

Why?

Because they're waiting.

Waiting for that belt to snap and turn into thousands of dollars in repairs.

That's what makes us different.

At Hawkins Automotive, we tell you everything.

Not to scare you, but so you can make the best choice.

So next time you need a repair, come here.

We'll tell you everything you need to know.

Driving a stick may seem like a headache at first...

But it doesn't have to be.

Here's three tips to help you

(and make your car last longer)

First, if you're on a steep hill, you can use your handbrake to help.

Put it in gear, pull up on the hand brake (with the button held in) and slowly release as you start.

This prevents unnecessary clutch wear.

Secondly, don't rest your foot on the clutch while driving.

This causes a tiny amount of slippage, destroying your clutch early.

Finally, don't drag it out.

You may think a slow, "smooth" start is better, but it's not.

Instead, let go of the clutch as soon as it catches.

Driving a manual shouldn't be a headache,

or a massive repair bill.

Follow Hawkins Automotive for more tips on keeping your car,

and wallet,

healthy.

What an honor it was to be asked to speak today to the Senior class at Whitehouse High School for their Adulting 101/Final Field Day! 🎓🐾

We covered some basic general automotive care and things to assist them with their cars as they go out and begin their new journey.

Congratulations class of 2026!! 🎉

Did you know windshield wipers were invented by a woman?

Before 1902, you had to stick your head out the window to see in the snow or rain.

However, Mary Anderson changed that.

She invented the first set of manual wipers.

But everyone doubted her.

They told her it would "distract the driver"

Now, it's one of the most important safety features on your car.

We went from being completely blind...

To being able to drive in the worst of storms.

Did you learn something new?

Drop a follow if you did.

What's the most annoying feature on your car?

No, not the way the suspension creaks or the way it doesn't start all the time.

I mean a feature that was built in purposefully.

However, instead of being helpful, it's just annoying.

This could be the auto start/stop, the push to start, backup camera beeps, etc.

We'd like to know what you think.

Drop it down below!

STOP worrying about your car's auto start/stop.

I get it.

It's a new feature, and it definitely seems like it would hurt your car.

But that truth?

Cars can handle it.

It's not going to break your starter.

It's just going to save you gas. (and reduce emissions)

It happens way too often: a simple repair turned expensive.

Loose motor mounts, a creaky suspension, or suspicious leaks are all things that can cause huge problems.

They can turn a $50 repair into a $1,000+ service.

Don't wait.

Don't risk it.

Fix it now, before it's too late.

Premium gas makes your car perform better, right? Well, not exactly...

Premium gas has a higher octane rating than normal.

This allows it handle more pressure without self-igniting.

Higher-compressions engines may require premium gas to run because of this.

In simpler terms, highly demanding engines need better gas to not blow up.

But just because higher performing cars use it, doesn't mean it will help your car perform better.

If your vehicle doesn't require premium gas, don't get it.

If it does, make sure to only use that.

(P.S. if you want to keep your car running smoothly, come see us at Hawkins Automotive and we'll get you fixed up!)
