Shout out to Sparky's Hardcore Customs for the learning experience today. A 2023 scatpack swap into a roadrunner is definitely not something easily done. Especially when using the factory engine, trans, and chassis harnesses with the can-bus system. But after some time, dedication and help from all the team at Sparky’s, along with help from the Sound German Automotive standalone for the 8hp transmission. This roadrunner is one step closer to being on the road. Thanks for having me along for this journey.

After working with Fish Customs, LLC on a customers K5, Chris wanted me to refresh his tune on his personal vehicle. He ditched the LS1 intake and added a hi rise intake on his 5.3 swapped e46 BMW, which already had a Michigan motorsports stage 4 cam with custom exhaust. The outcome was 30hp more over the LS1 intake in the 6500-7500rpm range.

Chris at fish customs called me in to get this sweet K5 blazer going after it had a heart transplant. Ditched the old 305 and 700r4 trans for a gen 3 5.3 & 4l60e combo. To help aid in power delivery and sound, a truck Norris cam along with long tube headers and flow master 40’s were added. Only tuned on 87 octane but the gains were really noticeable between the 305 and 5.3. Another nice touch is the factory gauges are still being used with the help of a Dakota digital converter to help convert the 4l60e transfer case vss signal to the required pulse per mile for the factory speedo. Customer coming back for a turbo swap. After diagnosing the wastegate actuator was failing, not holding boost, he opted to upgrade. Went from a TD04L to a VF34 and definitely made a difference. Got him in last minute and pulled an all-nighter almost due to a lot of rusted nuts and bolts. But the outcome was very noticeable. Now the injectors are maxed out. Maybe E85 is in the future after some 1050cc injectors.

Back in the office with Eric Daugherty , dialing in his new setup for this season. 226/230 cam, fic 1000’s, 3.69 diff ratio, and of course E85. Have a few things to touch up on with adding some sauce to it. Fueling is dialed in. Had a mishap with the clutch pedal assembly during the last run. But it’s good for his first event this weekend.

A quick Dyno session with this C5 Z06 with a 5.3 resleeved to a 7.0 427 by TSP, stage 4 hooper heads, LS7 BFD cam, and supporting mods made 512/490 on a dynojet. Will make it back soon to get better numbers.
