Saltwater is hard on aluminum — but a plain freshwater rinse doesn't get it all off.

Dried salt stays behind in the seams, fittings, bilge, and your motor's cooling system, and it keeps corroding long after the boat looks dry. We build our hulls tough, but this part's on you, and it's an easy one.

Our quick guide on washing your boat after saltwater (and why Salt Off beats a garden hose alone)

You pull the boat out, back it down the driveway, and give it a good rinse with the garden hose. Job done — right? Not quite. A freshwater rinse is far better than nothing, but it leaves more salt behind than most people realize, and on an aluminum boat that leftover salt is exactly what […]

New to boating? The lingo can be the most confusing part of the whole experience. ⚓

We put together a beginner-friendly guide to boating jargon — covering everything from bow and stern to port and starboard, knots, draft, wakes, and the commands you'll hear from the helm. It's the cheat sheet we wish every first-timer had before stepping aboard.

Whether you're shopping for your first boat or just want to stop nodding along blankly, this one's for you.

👉 Read it here:

Step aboard a boat for the first time and it can feel like everyone suddenly switched languages. Someone yells “grab the line!” while pointing at what is clearly a rope. The captain says to look “off the port bow,” and you have no idea which way to turn your head. The bathroom is the “head...

Everyone shopping for an aluminum boat asks about hull thickness. Almost nobody asks what that aluminum alloy actually is — and that’s the detail that decides how a boat handles rough water, whether it stays solid in saltwater, and how it holds up over the years.

There’s a real difference between 5052 and 5086 aluminum, and it’s the reason we build our entire hull — bottom AND sides — from 5086. We broke it down in plain English on the blog.

Read it here:

When you’re shopping for an aluminum boat, almost everyone talks about hull thickness. How many people ask which alloy that thickness is made of? Two boats can both advertise a 0.190″ bottom and behave completely differently in the water and over the years — because the metal itself isn’t th...

A Tyee is what fishermen call a Chinook salmon over thirty pounds.

It runs farther upriver than any other. Past the easy water. Past where most boats turn back.

We've spent 35 years building boats for the same kind of water.

Meet the Chinook Tyee Edition.
