Automobile Manufactures at the dealership level keep having vehicle warranties with book times that are unrealistic and diagnosis time is almost nonexistent. This is contributing to the production of substandard repairs, poor employee morale and good technicians leaving the industry. My thought to the manufacture is if you want low warranty cost then build a better product, incentivize good technicians to keep them loyal. It cost you more money in the long run to continually train new technicians then to keep your good ones happy. Dealership technicians used to be the best personnel to maintain your vehicle, but now things have changed. Inevitably dealership will no longer be able to charge a premium price for services performed. Business will be taken by independent shops that pay employees well and charge less to the customers because their overhead is much lower then the required car dealership overhead.

So you think you know the facts about credit reports? Here is a little test:

Fiction or Faction?
Having never borrowed money, I must have an excellent credit score.
That’s a common fallacy. Without a credit history, you don’t give the credit bureaus any information with which to provide FICO to generate a credit score. To build credit, you have to get credit.

Fact or Fiction?
I have a bankruptcy, lien and/or a charge off on my credit report. No one will ever lend me money or extend credit to me, again.
Not true. While each of these items is damaging to your credit report, the negative effects of these and other items lightens up over time. A bankruptcy can only stay on your credit for between 7 to 10 years, depending on which chapter you file. A charge off can only stay on your credit report for 7 years from the date of first delinquency.

Fact or Fiction?
Paying off my credit cards in full at the end of every month will help my credit score.
Fact. Payment History makes up 35% of your credit score. Pay on time and enjoy the benefits of great credit.

Fact or Fiction?
When buying a car, each of the credit pulls lowers your FICO score.
Wrong. When purchasing a car, a dealer will shop your credit report to several banks to see who is interested in purchasing your financing contract. Each of these lenders will pull your credit report. But only the pull from the first auto financial affects your score. After that and for the next 30 days, all of the other credit pulls related to a prospective car purchase do not effect your score.

Fact or Fiction?
Closing credit cards will raise my score.
Fiction. FICO score considers not only available credit but credit utilization. That is, what percentage of your credit you use. By closing credit card accounts, your utilization may go higher and thus, lower your score.

Fact or Fiction?
The more money you make, the better your credit score. Not true at all. Your available income and assets do not figure into your credit score.

Fact or Fiction?
When you get married, you get a joint credit report. NOPE. We come into this world as individuals and enter the credit world the same way. You might get joint obligations such as a mortgage, but your credit reports only involve you.

Fact or Fiction?
Credit Repair Companies can fix my credit.
Yes, in many instances they can. Experian’s website calls credit repair companies “Hucksters.” They even say that there’s nothing a credit repair company can do you that you can’t do for yourself. However, Experian has also failed to tell you that 80% of all credit reports have errors and mistakes and that half of those errors can depress your credit. I have sued Experian repeatedly for allegedly not doing its job right. Even more interesting is that Experian wants to get into the credit repair business. In 2016, it tried to sway Congress to amend the Credit Repair Organization Act, the statute the governs credit repair companies, to exclude Experian from its strictures.
