Funny how your idea of a “good time” changes as you get older. Loud bars, crowded rooms, and staying out until 2 a.m. slowly lose their appeal. Suddenly your dream night starts looking a lot more like this — a quiet campsite, a crackling fire, a sunset over the lake, and absolutely nowhere you need to be tomorrow morning.

There’s something deeply satisfying about unplugging from the world for a little while. No endless scrolling. No stressful headlines. No pretending to enjoy things that drain your energy. Just fresh air, calm water, and conversations that don’t have to compete with noise.

Turns out peace is a pretty underrated form of entertainment.

Summertime is back in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina! The mountains appear blue because specific oak and poplar trees here emit a chemical called isoprene to protect them against excessive heat.
