Customer called for a fuel line.
We offered to source it, but he wanted to save money and handle it himself.

After taking multiple parts apart, he couldn’t complete the job and called us out to install the line.
He declined diagnostics and only wanted the part installed.

Line was installed, but the truck was still leaking.

Leak was coming from the high pressure fuel pump — a component you can’t buy separately. The entire pump has to be replaced.

End result:
• Paid for the line
• Paid labor
• Paid parts delivery
• Paid towing
• Still needs a pump

All of this could’ve been avoided with one proper diagnostic.

Don’t guess. Diagnose it right the first time.

To companies but mainly drivers, be cautious with repairs done to your trucks and trailers!
This is not a DOT approved repair because it’s a safety hazard. Do your pre-trips and most of the time you’ll catch the issue. As a reminder, always ask your mechanic if the repair is DOT approved or not. Sometimes the repair is only to get you off the road or nearest repair shop.
If you are considering doing repairs on your own truck, use the correct parts and fittings. To mechanics don’t risk your business doing stuff like this.
