April is National Volunteer Month!
It honors individuals who give their time and skills to support their communities. Volunteerism plays a vital role across the United States, from local organizations and emergency services to national groups and grassroots efforts. Whether helping those in need, supporting charities, or contributing specialized skills, volunteers make a meaningful impact every day. Established in 1991 as part of the Points of Light initiative, this month encourages everyone to recognize volunteers and get involved.

Get Involved Locally
In honor of National Volunteer Month, here are a few local organizations making a difference in our community:
• Webster Comfort Care – Provides compassionate end-of-life care in a home-like setting for residents at no cost. Volunteers support patients and families in meaningful ways.
• Webster Community Chest – Supports local nonprofits and families in need through fundraising and community programs.
• GRASP Animal Rescue – A foster-based rescue dedicated to saving and rehoming animals in need. Volunteers help with fostering, events, and transport.
• Eden Urban Gardens (St. Mark’s & St. John’s) – Grows and distributes fresh food to fight hunger in the Rochester community. Volunteers assist with gardening and food distribution.
• Happy Birthday Cha Cha Cha – Brings love & celebration to children living at or below poverty by providing birthday experiences along with gifts.
