I’m just going to call this one Miles of Happiness.

This little project came to me with a very basic seat, and the customer wanted something truly custom. We played with colors, reshaped the foam, added support to the seat base, and built a customer-designed backrest that bolts directly to the seat bottom.

It turned out really nice, and I’ve seen plenty of videos of him cruising the canyons on this little bike—that’s what it’s all about.

Lots and lots of fun 🛵🔥

The seat came to me with a custom-made skirting from the Saddlebag Company, and I needed to figure out how to put it on, as well as create a fleur-de-lis out of blue stingray. The stingray was rather small, so it took me a while to come up with a design that would maximize the layout and use as much of the material as possible.

After figuring out the design, I backed the stingray with a high-density foam that I could sand and taper at the edges to really push the design out. Once that was stitched into the leather, I added some creative stitching to enhance the overall look.

Then came fitting the skirt — which took some figuring out — but in the end it turned out really nice. My customer was very patient while I worked through how to make everything come together, and I think they were really happy with the final result.

Details matter — this one was all about making the most of every piece.

BMW, let seat. This was a tough one. I went to the extreme to lower this seat as much as possible. I ended up heating the seat pan to the point i could mold it into the seat frame and keep all the original mounts in the same place and working with the key lock. I saved the back half of the original foam and built the rest of the seat to match up in back. I kept the front as low as possible. I feel like I was able to lower it between 2.5 and 3.5 inches for the owner. Being able to fit into your bike instead of on top of your bike brings so much confidence to the rider .

I just wanted to stop and thank every one for the birthday wishes. My awesome wife Surprised with a trip to San Antonio Texas to visit my son an his family. She surprised me with this news at thanks giving dinner with our family around the table, such wonderful gift.

So if it seems that I'm slow to respond I'm really sorry and I really do appreciate all your kindness.

I was so nervous to turn 60 but after all it's just a number. My wife Cheri and family have made it great one me to remember.

Thank you everyone ❤️

This was done for the back wall in the trunk of the 55 Chevy . I'm trying to get it into the album.

One of my past favorites, all veg tan leather with zodiac vinyl sides. Made for a rat rod named Frankenstein. A lot of time sitting at the table drawing and hand tooling. All hand died and painted. Die was done with a dry block technique I learned from Dave Beck.
