Afternoon severe thunderstorms ⛈️ with a humid high of 85°
Don’t let the sunshine ☀️ fool you, scattered thunderstorms ⛈️ are developing to our west for our afternoon. The sunshine is actually helping make the atmosphere unstable, making for severe thunderstorms.
We are tracking a steady start to our Friday with temperatures currently climbing through the 70°s .. However, you’ll want to keep the umbrella ☔️ close again as we move into the afternoon hours.
We are anticipating severe thunderstorms ⛈️ just like yesterdays severe storms .. starting around 3pm near Delaware and Sullivan counties and moving east/northeast like yesterday across the remaining HVW area. All of the HVW area will experience scattered storms today.
Severe storms with the potential for strong gusty winds of 22 - 35+ mph, small hail, frequent lightning ⚡️, and isolated downpours with flooding possible again like yesterday. And yes, there’s the possibility of power outages again and I noticed this morning, there were still some couple of hundred people without power in our area from yesterdays severe storms.
Scattered storms will persist through the evening before we transition to cloudy skies by 2am Saturday morning.
If you are attending the Ulster County Fair today, please keep an eye onto the severe weather coming and seek shelter immediately, don’t wait until it’s too late. Being outdoors in a severe weather event is not good. This also goes for anyone camping ⛺️ or out on the water .. seek safe harbor immediately. Check the weather before you head out and plan accordingly.
Hope everyone makes out ok .. Please check back for the latest weather and radar updates.
Be safe,
-Todd
