Fun fact: Street rods grew out of the post-WWII hot rod scene, when builders began turning older American cars into faster, better-looking, more comfortable cruisers. By the ’70s–’90s, street rods became known for combining classic styling with V8 power, upgraded suspension and brakes, custom interiors, and modern drivability.
The first modern hydraulic flatbed/rollback tow trucks began appearing in the 1960s. The concept developed from earlier vehicle transporters and tilt-bed trucks, but around 1965–1969 is generally when hydraulic rollback-style tow trucks similar to what we recognize today started entering the towing industry.
