Woodland Biomass Innovations

There’s something special about building a startup in Pennsylvania 🌲🚀

Last week at the Invent Penn State Venture and IP Conference, we were reminded exactly why.

In many startup hubs, the networking can feel transactional. But in PA? It still has that intimate, family-like atmosphere. It’s the kind of environment where you’re guaranteed to run into familiar faces and friends from event to event, creating a sense of community that is as supportive as it is driven 🤝 😊

The real excitement comes from the progress we’re all witnessing. It’s energizing to see companies we’ve known for years hit new milestones and reach new heights, like Woodland BIO, while also watching fresh startups join the scene for the first time.

To make the week even more meaningful, we closed it out with a full-circle moment: a reunion with the Keystone Merge group at the Penn State Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub.

In many ways, our presentation at KeystoneMerge in 2024 was our first real breakout onto the PA innovation scene. That video is still the headline on our website’s home page today, and many of the connections we made during that event are the same ones that carry us through our work now. Finishing off our most successful networking week to date by reconnecting with that original group felt like the perfect way to bring our journey full circle.

Shout-out to some of the great folks we caught up with:

and many more....

Huge thanks to everyone who made the event such a success. It was a pleasure to reconnect and share ideas!

Heading home refreshed and excited. Looking forward to the next family gathering to keep the PA innovation ecosystem growing!

It was fantastic to catch up with our friends from Shipley Energy yesterday! 🤝

A huge thank you to Matt Sommer for the excellent lunch and a great conversation. We truly couldn’t ask for better partners as we move closer to bringing our Tioga County-produced sustainable gasoline to market.

It’s partnerships like these that make our mission to create a localized, circular energy future a reality. Looking forward to everything we’ll accomplish together! 🌲🚗⛽

It was an honor to speak at the Tioga County Economic Summit! 🎙️

We had such a great time discussing our Tioga County facility and the positive impact we aim to bring to our local region. There’s nothing quite like the energy of this community, and it was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces and welcome some new ones into the conversation.

We want to extend a special thanks to our long-term supporters for being there: the Tioga County Commissioners, PA State Rep. Clint Owlett, and Chris Hoffman from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Office. And, of course, a big thank you to the team at for organizing such an insightful event!

We are proud to call Tioga County home and are so grateful for all the encouragement and support we’ve received. Let’s keep working together toward a more sustainable future for everyone! 🌲✨

We loved being at the PA CareerLink Tioga County Job Fair at yesterday!

It was a privilege to share the stage with Kristin Hamilton (Develop Tioga) and Kim Jennings () to discuss how the workforce development program helps us bring on talented interns.

We had a blast networking with local students and job-seekers to find our next marketing intern. Thank you to Trehab and CareerLink for having us out; we’re so grateful for the support these organizations provide in helping us build sustainable energy and new jobs here in Pennsylvania! 🌲💪

What a fantastic weekend at the Watkins Glen Grand Prix! 🏎️🏁

We had an incredible time meeting so many race fans and sharing our mission to turn woody biomass into sustainable fuel. Huge thanks to the event organizers for putting together such an exceptional experience; it was a privilege to be part of the action.

We have to give a special shout-out to the classic car displays; we especially loved seeing the 1948 Chrysler that featured beautiful wood panels as part of its original design (photo attached): a perfect nod to the history of wood in automotive styling!

We’re already looking forward to becoming a regular fixture in the Grand Prix ecosystem in the years to come. Thanks to Michaela Christensen and the whole team at WATKINS GLEN PROMOTIONS INC for a fantastic job organizing this event! We are committed to continuing our support for this iconic event as we work to build a more sustainable future for the motorsports community and beyond.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth to race our wood cars and chat with our team. See you next year! 🌲🚗💨

Come by and say hi! We’re located right on the main lawn, next to the official Grand Prix merchandise booth and directly across the street from the announcement podium.

And the best part? We’ve got our race track set up! Come challenge your friends or family to a race with our custom wood cars. 🌲🚗

We’d love to see you there: come for the racing, stay for the sustainable innovation!

After a busy summer firing on all cylinders, it's important to take a moment to put down the company hat and recharge, feet in the sand. 🌊🧢🏖️

It has been an absolutely amazing quarter for Woodland BIO! We've made some incredible strides toward a sustainable future:

🤝 Signed our major retail distribution deal with Shipley Energy
🏆 Received the PA Agricultural Innovation grant award
🧠 Launched our market research with Carnegie Mellon University
🌲 Advanced our crucial life cycle analysis with Penn State University and DCNR

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this quarter so exceptional. After a short break, we're looking forward to seeing what the next quarter holds in store for our growing business.

We hope you're all enjoying a well-earned break with family and friends this weekend! Happy Labor Day! ❤️
