Senator Randy Price Secures $4 million for the Randolph Roanoke Career Tech Center
Senator Randy Price of District 13 presented a $4million grant check to the Randolph Roanoke Career Tech Center. The Randolph Roanoke Career Tech Center (RRCTC), in partnership with Roanoke City Schools, and Southern Union State Community College, requested funding through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Facilities Grant to expand workforce training opportunities that would support Alabama's rapidly growing economy and increase the demand for highly skilled trades professionals.
This project will renovate an existing facility into a state-of-the-art welding training center equipped with industry-standard technology while constructing new boys' and girls' locker rooms and restroom facilities to accommodate a rapidly growing student population. This investment will increase instructional capacity, improve student safety, and prepare students for high-wage, high-demand careers that are essential to Alabama's manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, and defense industries.
“I believe it is vital that we invest and prepare our 21st Century workforce. Now more than ever we need to put money into the classroom, making sure students and instructors have the necessary resources they need to succeed. Our job force and economy are thriving in district 13. I am happy to have worked with Governor Ivey, Senate and House leadership and my colleagues on supporting the RRTC,” said Senator Price.
“The future of Alabama is being built in our classrooms today. Thanks to a $150 million investment from the Governor Ivey, Speaker Ledbetter, Pro Tem Gudger, and the Alabama Legislature into career and technical education programs across the state, more students than ever are gaining access to hands-on learning, industry-relevant training, and cutting-edge technology that prepares them for success after graduation,” said State Superintendent of Education Dr. Eric G. Mackey. “These modern career and technical programs integrate cutting-edge technology, industry-recognized credentials, and real-world experience aligned directly with labor market needs.”
This project positions RRCTC to become an important contributor to that statewide workforce strategy. It will expand access to high-quality welding education, students in rural East Alabama will have greater opportunities to enter careers supporting not only local employers but also Alabama's growing manufacturing sector, shipbuilding industry, and national defense workforce.
