😤 If you drive a GM with Active Fuel Management (like the 5.3L V8), you might want to read this.

AFM was designed to save fuel by shutting down cylinders when they’re not needed, but the lifters responsible for this can fail — and when they do, it's not cheap. Ticking noises, misfires, loss of power… then boom 💥 — you're looking at thousands in repairs.

This isn’t a one-off issue either — it’s a known problem across multiple GM engines from 2007 up to even recent models. Some shops are even seeing these failures as early as 60k-100k miles.

🔧 A few options:

Delete/disable AFM altogether (aftermarket tune + mechanical changes)

Replace lifters (may or may not last)

Upgrade to non-AFM parts (if rebuilding)

If you’re experiencing engine ticking, CEL (Check Engine Light), or misfires — don’t wait. It could be your lifters on the way out.

Anyone else been through the AFM nightmare? Drop your experience below. Let’s help each other out! 👇

🔧 Ram Truck Heater Core Failures – What Owners Need to Know 🛠️

If you own a Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500, particularly between 2009 and 2018, and you’ve noticed poor heat, foggy windows, or a coolant smell inside the cabin, you could be experiencing a heater core failure — a common issue in these trucks.

At C&C Automotive, we’ve seen a growing number of Rams come through our doors with this exact problem. Left unchecked, a failing heater core can lead to coolant loss, interior damage, and costly repairs.

🚨 Common Signs of Heater Core Failure:

Weak or no heat from vents

Sweet smell inside the cabin (coolant)

Fogged or misty windows, especially with defrost on

Coolant level dropping with no visible leaks

Damp carpets or sticky residue on passenger floorboard

🧰 What Causes It?

Heater cores can fail prematurely due to:

Coolant breakdown or contamination

Internal clogging

Electrolysis and corrosion

Poor coolant maintenance or system flushing

✅ How We Can Help:

At C&C Automotive, we offer:
✔️ Accurate diagnostics
✔️ OEM-quality heater core replacements
✔️ Full coolant system flush and service
✔️ HVAC and dashboard disassembly by trained technicians
✔️ Honest, upfront quotes

This is a known issue with many Ram trucks — don’t wait until it causes more damage. If you're experiencing any of the above symptoms, give us a call or message us today. We're here to help keep your truck running warm and reliable. 🔥

Here we are using the newest tech avalible to help the ease of Diagnostic Work on your cars.

In this picture you are looking at a relative compression test that is a non invasive test. This test doesn't require and disassembly of your engine to test compression across all banks. The red lead is a trigger off the cylinder 1 spark plug wire for a reference. The blue trigger is the engine spinning over shown as amperage from the starter motor. Using the firing order we determine that cylinder 3 and 5 have low compression.

By having these abilitys we were able to determine what cylinder to start with, saving you money on Diagnostic costs. We utilize this tech when ever possible to give the customer a visual and to run acurate Diagnostic on all you mechaical and electrical faults.

Cracked Exhaust Manifold can cause false lean codes and fuel trim issues from outside oxogen being sucked into your exhaust stream. This a very common but over looked step in diagnosing these check engine light or even low fuel economy concerns.
