Repair and repaint of an Indian bagger that had an unfortunate tipover. Good as new! Customer loves this bike and puts lots of miles on it. Kevin Tatum Jason LeCavalier

Here is a recent fun challenge. Not what you typically see on a bike! Was happy to take it on, even if I wasn’t sure at first how I’d make it flow. Customers trusted me with some ideas and are over the moon with it and that makes me happy.

“Do you paint motorcycles?” Why, yes, sometimes I do. Mostly I burn things. Sand them. Break them. Sand them. Did I mention sanding? Lots of that. Like, sh*tloads. And tape. Miles of it. And then, yes, painting. A small amount of that. Mostly though it’s everything else. The painting is the easy part. Here is some various stages of puzzling back together the remnants of destruction.

Speaking of wheels, here is another pair from a 1925 FN M50 project done a few years ago. These actually had to be redone recently because during installation it was discovered that some metal tubing was jammed into the inner lip preventing new tires from being mounted. So it was all removed and wheels stripped to be repainted. Finished a day before Mama Tried where it was put on display. Yep, these get painted fully assembled with hubs, spokes, etc. And yes, I almost had a stroke trying to get them painted properly with those hurdles. Don’t try this at home, kids.

I’ve been slacking on posts lately but looking through some pics of recent projects we have this Suzuki RG500 tank and some wheels. This tank had a lot of wear and tear, dents on all sides. By some stroke of luck the original decals were in good enough shape that I was able to repair them. So this tank has been restored with new paint and clear but all the decals are original. Sure, you can get some new decals that are reasonably close but original is original…

1994 ZX-7 restore in the books! Wrapped this one up last week. New decal set I’ve bit worked with before. Not going to lie, some were a bear to get on and others needed some finessing with paint. Did not expect some of the blue decals to be transparent but made them all work. These were put together from a larger pile of donor parts to be as new as can be.

What are you doing today, Jason? Oh, nothing special. Pinstriping wheels for a 1952 Vincent Black Shadow Series C. The black wheels with red pinstripes was a one year only offering. A little tricky hand striping with the hubs and spokes already assembled but that is the job! I may be a little cross-eyed for the rest of the day. Wrapping up the tank for this as well and off to be assembled by the talented crew at for a great customer.

Don’t get a lot of time to experiment but wanted to play around with some glow paints on a groundbreaker skeleton after adding some details to a 12ft skeleton last year. Did the same with this one and now I just need to figure out some cool UV lighting setups. Already thinking about next year…

I can’t tell if these look any good because I’m definitely blind now after all the masking. 1/16 black stripes with machined grooves. These were originally black powder or single stage with the machining done after paint. I can tell you 100% that it sounds like a much easier process! 🤣
