It is very important to note that as of May 1st gasoline may now have a choice for 15% ethanol gasoline. Please do yourselves a favor and though it is more expensive for a higher grade, this percentage of ethanol in gas can damage the vehicles with older motors (at least 2001 and before but potentially more recent years).

Here is the broadcast info:
The EPA's emergency fuel waiver for 2026 allows the sale of E15 gasoline, which is blended with 15% ethanol, throughout the summer driving season. This waiver is effective from May 1, 2026, and is part of the EPA's efforts to address energy security and consumer relief. The waiver aims to increase the total volume of fuel available to American drivers and provide more fuel options at the pump. It also removes federal barriers for E10 and temporarily suspends state-level boutique fuel requirements, which have previously created logistical challenges for refiners and midstream operators. The waiver is expected to be in place through May 20, 2026, and may be extended as long as the fuel supply circumstances warrant such action.

Here is more info:
Using 15% ethanol (E15) in older vehicles can pose several risks:
Compatibility Issues: Older vehicles, especially those manufactured before 2001, are generally not designed to handle higher ethanol concentrations, which can lead to damage to fuel systems and engine components.

Corrosion and Fuel System Damage: Ethanol can attract moisture, causing corrosion and damage to rubber hoses, gaskets, and other fuel system components.

Fuel Economy: E15 is less energy-dense than regular gasoline, which may result in worse fuel economy compared to using regular gasoline.

Manufacturer Recommendations: It's crucial to check your vehicle's owner's manual for specific fuel recommendations, as some older vehicles may not be compatible with E15.

In summary, while E15 is safe for newer vehicles, it is not recommended for older models due to the potential for significant damage and inefficiencies. Always consult your vehicle's manual for the best fuel recommendations.
