Steve update: Steve had his first chemo treatment on Monday after he got his port put in. He gets 5 different chemo’s 4 at the oncologist office and 1 at home so he is at the oncology office for a little over 5 hours. Then they put a portable machine on him and he wears that at home for 46 hours and we go back and they take it off. We were both nervous about all of it because we had never gone thru anything like this before. He actually did good wearing his purse around as he said for 46 hours. He had to sleep in the recliner so the chemo would flow and I slept on the couch beside him incase he needed me. After he got his machine off on Thursday morning he was feeling a little anxious but not bad. The nurse checked his bp and temperature and it was 99.5 and bp a little low. They gave him a bag of iv’s because he was dehydrated. The weird thing is with the chemo he is taking he cannot eat or drink anything cold so everything has to be room temperature. He was not a fan of that to say the least. His Ensure was warm and his drinks were all warm until today he finally got a cold drink. He was happy so I’m sure he will be drinking lots of cold fluids until the next chemo. I did get an idea from the nurse she told me to put his ensure in his coffee in the morning and it makes a really good hot coffee drink. I even liked it. We go back to see the oncologist on Tuesday Sept 8th I’m not sure why yet but I am going to ask her about the new drug that has just hit the market. I will let you all know what she says. So for now we did survive the first chemo treatment YAY Steve and see what the Dr says on Tuesday. I will try to keep friends, family and customers updated on here. We ask you continue to keep him in your prayers and also the rest of the family. It takes a village. We love you all. Steve,Martha, Stevie and Jeffrey.
Ps: All of this said someone gave me a sore throat or a bug that has been terrible since Wednesday night I think I must have got it at the hospital or oncology’s office even wearing a mask and keeping your hands clean. I am wearing a mask and gloves around Steve so he doesn’t get sick. I pray he doesn’t. Our house is running over with anything we would need for germs I hope and I use them religiously.
