Hey everyone -- a special offer from our friends at D.C. United! (Small typo in first, post, game's at 7:00 pm)

Labor Night 2013 with D.C. United

August 24th vs. Toronto F.C.

7:00PM at RFK Stadium

Overview: The purpose of Labor Night is to combine the Labor Unions from D.C./MD/VA to support D.C. United and the local labor movement. The night will be comprised of a tailgate reception prior to the match in Lot 8 (need to bring own food/drink), discounted tickets, and all participating Unions will receive recognition throughout the match. The Labor Union that receives the most participation from the group will be recognized during halftime at the match!

Ticket Price: $28 sideline seat ($35 regular price)

Pre-Game Tailgate Area: Lot 8 Tailgate Row starting at 4:30 PM (you will need to bring your own food/drink with the option to purchase food from vendors)

Recognition: Each participating Labor Union will be featured on the video board and PA during the match. The Labor Union with the most participants will be recognized at half time on field during the game.

Purchasing Tickets: If your Union wants to purchase a block of seats, that can be done so through the D.C. United representative below. Or a specific link will be created for each participating Labor Union to keep track of orders and you will be able to print from home once they are purchased through your specific link.

Hi Everyone -- the rules for the Big Labor Pool are out. Write to [email protected] to get ing the pool if you think you've got the stuff to beat your fellow union staffers in bracketology.

Hello again players,

It's hard to believe another year is behind us and it's time once again for the Big Labor Pool. You are receiving this message because you have previously played in the pool. If you are not interested in playing this year just let me know and I'll remove you from the list.

But why would you want to do that when the Pool is so much fun? And you have a chance to win some big money if you make the right picks. It'll be more difficult this year since there's not a strong favorite to win it all - although I can hear some of you right now saying what about Pitt, G'town, the Zags, and of course, Duke. However I am confident none of those four will take home the trophy. And the Dukies better just worry about getting past the first round this year. They already went out in their first game of the ACC tourney.

Anyway, I'll save my trash talking for later. Attached to the email please find the rules to the Pool. You should have already received an email from CBS Sports regarding registration for this year. Obviously if you encounter problems let me know.

Your picks are due by this Thursday at noon. No grace period!

Good luck and you'll be hearing from me plenty over the next three weeks.

Our close friends at the Big Labor Pool wrote to us today in advance of the DC labor movement-wide NCAA bracket pool kicking off this coming Monday. If you're interesting in playing, send an email to bigblaborpool AT gmail DOT com.

Hope you're ready for the Tourney. I am sure you are aware Selection Sunday is in 2 days. I am emailing to make sure all those who played last year are interested in participating again in 2013. If not, just email me back and I will remove you from the list.

Still Tix Available for Labor Soccer Night: Sure it’ll be hot tomorrow but the action on the soccer field will be even hotter as D.C. United takes on the Montreal Impact. Over 100 labor folks have bought discounted tickets for Saturday’s “Labor Night at RFK”. DC United is offering a 25% discount for union members to their 7:30p game. The union that brings the largest number of supporters – currently IFPTE by a slim 10-ticket margin – will receive special recognition by the team.
