With just three days left, Gudger makes a strong push in support of Beau’s Law.
Senate Pro Tem Garlan Gudger is stepping up as the 2026 legislative session winds down, urging lawmakers to give SB361, known as Beau’s Law, a chance for consideration in the House.
“SB361 needs to be placed on the House Calendar for final consideration,” Gudger said. “And with just three days remaining in the 2026 regular session, the time to take action is now.”
Beau’s Law aims to protect outdoor dogs across Alabama by setting clear standards for humane care. The bill requires proper shelter, clean water, and safe tethering. It bans harmful chains and collars and gives animal control more authority to step in when dogs are kept in unsafe conditions. Violating the law would be considered a misdemeanor.
