Amazing condition and reliability! Super clean! An award-winning show stopper!
This vehicle was built to be driven, with the desire for a classic look and the need for modern reliability and performance.
Our purpose in building this vehicle was to have the ability to cross-country travel, tow a trailer, camp from the car, and have decent fuel mileage without having to settle for a mundane truck/SUV or a euro-based work van. Since building this Suburban, we have enjoyed over 31,000 miles in 4 years. This Suburban has allowed us to travel and still pull a trailer (getting 16-18mpg at 65-70mph), with the third row removed and the second row folded there is plenty of space to sleep and bring our bags. Without a trailer, we have been averaging mid to low 20's cruising at 68-72mph. The Suburban was originally purchased in New Mexico and without a drive line. It received a frame-off restoration, with a drop-out 2015 GM drive line leaving as much of the power train as stock as possible to preserve reliability, while upgrading the chassis and interior at the same time.
-1968 3-door Suburban with tailgate, 9 passenger with 3 rows of seating.
-The bare steel body received repair panels for both front rockers, both rear lower quarters, and the right front door kick.
-Under side of the body was sprayed with truck bed liner.
-The main body is painted GM 2001 sunset orange metallic.
-The roof is GM 1968 ivory white.
-The side body molding was hand air-brushed on before the truck was clear coated. I did not want to drill a bunch of holes in the body that I just payed to have fixed in order to install traditional trim.
-The factory plywood rear floor was removed and replaced with steel, allowing it to receive the pockets for late-model easily-removable third row seating and fold-able second row seating.
-All three rows have seat belts, with shoulder straps on 6 of the 9 positions, 3 middle seats have lap belts.
-The front bucket seats are heated power seats that recline and have adjustable lumbar support.
-The front center console opens and there is 2 front and 2 center row cup holders.
-The three front doors have power locks with key-less entry using GM remotes.
-The doors, tailgate, glove box, and ignition are all keyed the same.
-The rear lift gate has strut-assisted lift.
-The interior has 3 overhead and 2 lower courtesy lights, the 2 rear overhead lights can be operated from the rear cargo light switch.
-There are 3 12 volt power ports (one at the cigarette lighters, one in the glove box, and one in the rear cargo area).
-Passenger sun visor has a vanity mirror.
-The center rear view mirror is also the screen for the back-up camera, and the forward and rear dash cameras.
-The Retro radio has AM/FM blue-tooth USB and hands-free options. There are remote plugins in the glove box with sub controller. It is connected to an amplified 6 speaker audio system with a signal subwoofer.
-Vintage-Air front heat and air conditioning system.
-Automatic head lamps
-Delay wipers
-Dakota Digital dash with outside air temp and transmission temp. The odometer was programed to match the 2015 drive-line that was installed in the Suburban, and trip "B" is the miles on the vehicle since it was restored.
-Tilt steering column with custom shift PRNDL.
-Dash-mounted tap shift switch and tow/ haul button.
-Dash-mounted electronic trailer brake controller.
-Hidden trailer hitch behind the fold-down license plate with a 2 inch receiver and 7-wire trailer plug.
