Been a busy month or so here lately, so figured I’d fill you all in on some recent jobs that have came and went! Most all of these jobs were smaller and required a week or less of work! Smaller jobs help me out just as much as the big ones, and help get the customers their vehicles back as soon as possible!
Started off with this quick little bumper repair on this extremely clean gmc terrain! Bumper corner was backed into by accident which caused some cracks in the paint, small wrinkles in the plastic and the obvious paint scrapes. This was an out of pocket repair, so it was kept small to keep cost down, while still being a very nice long term repair. Area was cleaned, sanded down through all the damaged paint, small amount of body work to repair small buckle areas, followed by adhesion promoter on the raw plastic and primer. Once that was done primer was blocked flat, and bumper corner was prepped for paint. This is a tri-coat pearl white color which adds some difficulty to keep small, but a good color match will go a long ways in a repair like this. The basecoat was applied, followed by an intermix coat, followed by the pearl coat, then clear! Once completed this repair looked like nothing ever happened! Color match was much nicer than factory also💪🏻
Next up was a couple sets of ford f250 mirrors that got color matched to the trucks! A lot of places paint plastic parts like this whole or completely assembled still, but here EVERYTHING comes apart. This ensures the best possible job, and to make sure that no place goes untouched! Disassembly, clean clean clean, prep, plastic promote and prime. Once cured, every piece is sanded flat to remove any texture the plastic has in it. Once everything is sanded, the paint process begins. Everything gets cleaned, tacked, sealed based and cleared just as if I was painting the vehicle itself. This ensures the best possible outcome, and adhesion possible! Once mirrors sat to cure, stressful assembly takes place, followed by installing back onto the trucks! Hard to beat a nice color matched mirror 😎
Next up was a quick 1/2 day to swap some visors over on a couple slick w990 kenworths! My brother and I work together sometimes on a few jobs such as these to break up the day to day work. We installed some 12” visors on these trucks a year or so ago, but new drivers in them complained about not being able to see enough. So we swapped the 12” out for a couple of sweet looking 8” ones. Lower mount holes were filled with bolts that were painted black to camouflage the unused holes now as best as we could.
Up next was a fun job for a super good customer and great friend of mine! He has had his super slick w9 kenworth now for many years, and wanted a little change. We purchased a new visor that was the same as his old one, and I went ahead and prepped the back side of it and gave it a nice paint job 😎 once that was done and cured, I had my buddie Dan with Knucklehed do some slick line work and wording on it! What a neat saying that is, completely true and great motivation on the harder days!
While I had Dan here, I also had him do up a couple lisence plates for me for a buddie of mine! 1 plate was color matched to the truck, other plate was painted metallic black. Both plates were hand painted by Dan with this slick name and logos for a new business addition!
Next was a big ole quad axle dump truck in for some tasteful add ons, and a new exhaust! Truck received a 13.5” visor, an 18” Texas square bumper, and a new 5” chrome stack! Nice, clean and simple always wins 👌🏻
In next was another semi that wanted a little change, as well as fixing a small fender bender accident. Truck was torn down, new fender/liner was bought, followed by small repairs on the other fender. This truck wasn’t meant to be “perfect” as it’s a quarry truck and made for work. I did what the customer wanted. After repairs were made, fenders were prepped and color matched to the truck! Nice and simple repair/repaint!
Next was probably the coolest pulling truck I’ve ever seen 😎 an all metal 1957 Chevy pickup! This truck is full custom front to back, which in itself can cause small issues at times. Truck has a hydraulic lift hood, and stops were not installed from previous owner/builder. On its journey home to new owner the hood came in contact with the cowl and did a small amount of damage. On a job like this, nothing is “by the book”. Just have to do the repair as needed to make it what it needs to be. Repair was made, panel was prepped and shot in an industrial single stage that was camera matched to the truck. Truck was painted with single stage, so I like to do the repair to match what it already there material for material. Once done, stops were installed and no more issues persist 🤘🏻
“Small” Pdr jobs are something I love to see come around! I cannot take credit for any of this repair, but this is what you get working with some of the best guys in the industry! My Pdr guy saved this door 100% from needing any body/paintwork. Repairs like this are worth their weight in gold! If you have anything like this ever happen to you, get ahold of me!
Almost done with this list, but how cool it is to see all these jobs and people instilling work in me and my small business! You all mean more to me than you know! This sweet t800 got all the lights installed 😎the dark is gonna be afraid of him now! All glass watermelons, all bright, and cleanly installed! My brother helped on this one as well! Sweet end result!
Slick little airbag install on this 2019 3500 Chevy! On board air, side to side air management all at the touch of a button from inside the truck! Hard to beat a setup like this! Mounted the compressor in the toolbox for an out of sight, out of mind install! All plumbing and wiring was done nice, clean and simple!
Second to last was a set of 4 individual plastic fenders on this 386 Peterbilt. One of my brothers biggest accounts is coop 2. This truck went though 3 back windows from rock debris, so this outta do the trick to keep that from happening again!💪🏻 minimizer makes a great fender and bracket kit for the working trucks out there!
Last but definitely not least, was my biggest project to date coming back for some “icing on the cake”! The 1974 Chevy k20 received some power steps to aid in getting into this beauty! These square body Chevy trucks have some tall floor pans, so with adding the lift it was difficult to get into! A set of power steps from Davis off-road changed that! Super nice kit, and was exactly what the customer wanted!
