We're all very frustrated this year with the weather situation, but owner, Bob King commented, "I don't want to see torn-up race cars and a very soft and rutted track for everyone to race on". As a former driver, he understands what it means to race on a soft water saturated race track.

Turns out we made the right decision when a thunder storm cell went right over the track at about 1:50 Saturday afternoon dumping more rain on the soft soaked grounds.

We understand everyone is "frustrated" but please understand it's totally out of our control. We've worked the track several times and continue to make improvements throughout the facilities at the track.

We'll look plan on seeing everyone at CMS in a few weeks. Next weekend is a scheduled OFF weekend and many drivers and staff already have other plans in place.

Thank you for your patience and we'll look forward to improved weather for the remainder of the 2026 Central Missouri Speedway Race Season.

Central Missouri Speedway forced to cancel event due to weather. Ongoing rain has left the track and pit areas saturated, and more rain predicted for today, leading to the unfortunate decision to cancel the Cliff Harris Automotive Group Night at the Races scheduled for Saturday, May 30. Pub 13 opens today at 11:30 with new menu options and tasty drink selections. Check them out for a delicious meal along with friendly service.

We're also working with Touring Guest groups on an updated race schedule to accommodate Guest classes into the Saturday night schedule.

Central Missouri Speedway returns to exciting racing action at the clay oval north of Warrensburg for Cliff Harris Automotive Group Night at the Races on Saturday, May 30.

The POWRi Midwest Mods, CMS Pure Stocks, POWRi/USRA B-Mods, and POWRi Super Stocks will compete for the flying double checkers in their feature events.

Track improvements continued despite the race cancelations last weekend. The track and pit sound systems are back up to full operations with the new improved systems.

Currently, defending 2025 Track Champion Midwest Mod, David Woods from Richmond leads Brian Meyer and Matt Taghon in a close point race to the points Championship.

The Pure Stocks have Basehor, Kansas driver, Chase Galvin in another close battle, in front of Jimmy Workman and Jonathan Evans.

The Super Stocks are led by a former Track Champion, James Nighswonger from Osawatamie, Kansas leading with Cory Flamm and Blayne McMillin in close pursuit.

Finally, the B-Mods have Troy Carlyle in front of Jake Fetterman and Chad Staus with the tight Chanpionship points lead.

Immediate Update:
Central Missouri Speedway
2026 Race Schedule

Owner Bob King: After receiving emails from fans, speaking with drivers and talking with the staff at Central Missouri, Speedway, we have determined that drivers and fans are having issues getting to the race track by 7:00 pm on Friday nights. The car count and attendance has reflected this on the Fridays we have ran.

Due to these issues and the numerous spring rainouts, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Friday night program. We will cut the 600cc Micros from the schedule the remainder of this year, we will adjust the Saturdays schedule to accommodate Guest Class A-mods, and Late Models throughout the remainder of the 2026 race season.

An updated schedule will be out soon, in the meantime Friday night racing will be removed from the 2026 CMS schedule.

Persistent rain again on Thursday has contributed to our decision to cancel the races.

Unfortunately, the weather wins again at Central Missouri Speedway. After numerous discussions of weekend race options with Track Owner, Bob King, the decision was made to cancel the entire weekend of racing at CMS.
The pits, track and grounds are saturated with the heavy rainfall received over several days this week. And now with additional rain on Thursday afternoon dampening any efforts to dry out the track, CMS will pull the plug on racing and try again next week.

With water still on several areas of the track grounds and the track, races on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 are canceled. The early call to not race will give our drivers, fans and staff a chance to make other plans.
