🤠❤️ A HUGE THANK YOU TO SANDY BONAWIT! ❤️🤠

We want to take a moment to thank Sandy Suprenant Bonawit for coming to Rising Sun Centers with a vision God placed on her heart. She wanted to do something special for the individuals we are blessed to serve, and what better way to bring people together than through line dancing, laughter, and a good old-fashioned Harvest Hoedown!

Sandy put her heart and soul into making this event unforgettable. From driving around to collect 27 raffle baskets, to cooking all the food for over 150 people, to thoughtfully creating a seating chart so everyone could sit with their friends, she went above and beyond in every way. Every detail was a reflection of her love for our individuals and her belief in what Rising Sun Centers does.

We are truly overwhelmed with gratitude for Sandy, for everyone who donated, for everyone who showed up to support this wonderful event, and for those who showed out on the dance floor! Seeing so many smiles, hearing the laughter, and watching everyone have such an amazing time reminded us just how special our Rising Sun family is.

Sandy, thank you for sharing your heart, your time, your talents, and your love with us. You didn't just organize a hoedown; you created memories, brought people together, and made our individuals feel special and loved.

From the bottoms of our dancing feet to the tops of our cowboy hats, THANK YOU, SANDY! 🤠💃🕺

God placed this vision on your heart, and we are so grateful you followed it. You have touched so many hearts at Rising Sun Centers, and we hope you know just how much you are appreciated!

Today, we had a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow together at LCCC! 💙 LCBDD presented a group discussion on Healthy Boundaries & Safe Relationships, where we talked about consent, respecting one another, using our voices, and the importance of speaking up for ourselves. These are such important conversations, and we’re so grateful to LCBDD and everyone who made this opportunity possible and welcomed us to participate! Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and had the chance to catch up and mingle with some old friends. 🥰

Yesterday, we enjoyed the perfect fall weather while painting pumpkins! 🎃🖌️ From fun faces to all kinds of colors, everyone got to show off their creativity and make their pumpkins their own.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that bring us together, help us learn, and give us new experiences to enjoy! 🍂

There’s something so special about walking through town, smiling, waving, and seeing our RSC family out there together. Being seen and heard in our community means so much. There’s no better feeling than hearing the cheers, looking into the crowd, and seeing familiar faces smiling, waving, and rooting us on. ❤️

One of the best parts is watching our individuals experience that excitement, seeing their smiles, and knowing they are being celebrated by the very community they are a part of. These moments remind us why what we do matters and how important it is for our individuals to feel seen, included, and supported. 🧡

We take so much pride in our day center and what we get to be a part of. Every year, we look forward to the Woollybear Parade — coming together, decorating, laughing, and having way too much fun along the way! 😂

And we truly had the BEST helpers this year. It takes a village to make it all happen, and we are so thankful for every person who showed up with all hands on deck:

Today was all about getting out into the community, enjoying the beautiful fall weather, and making some memories! ☀️

We took advantage of the gorgeous weather right here at Center 1! Our individuals enjoyed riding bikes, shooting some hoops, and simply spending time outside together.

Our individuals also had the opportunity to pick out their own pumpkins, explore the patch, and enjoy everything this gorgeous fall day! But it wasn’t just about the pumpkins, we also worked on some important everyday skills along the way.

From budgeting and managing money to making choices about what to purchase, our day was filled with opportunities to practice independence, decision-making, and community participation. 🧡

We love watching our individuals experience the community, make their own choices, and have FUN while learning skills they can use every day. ❤️

Today during Ladies Group, we didn’t just “Cheers” — we had an amazing opportunity to learn!

Our ladies got an inside look at what happens to the items we donate to Goodwill. They were able to see the different things people donate, learn how donations are sorted and priced, and discover that Goodwill is about so much more than selling and accepting donations.

The ladies also learned how Goodwill recycles items and provides employment opportunities and support to people in need, including giving individuals with barriers to employment and past records an opportunity to work, grow, and build a better future. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to Tom and these beautiful ladies for taking the time to give our Rising Sun ladies such a wonderful and meaningful learning experience! We truly appreciate the opportunity to learn, explore, and understand how our donations can make a difference in our community.

Meanwhile, our guys headed out on their own and enjoyed some time together! 💙 They had the opportunity to slow down, enjoy each other’s company, and have some great one-on-one conversations. In a world that always seems to move so fast, having groups like these gives us a chance to pause, connect, listen, laugh, and simply enjoy the moment together. 😊
