🍂 TO PRUNE OR NOT TO PRUNE? 🌳✂️
Fall is here in Central Texas, but not everything should be trimmed or cut back this season!
✅ WHAT CAN BE PRUNED:
* Lightly shape established hedges and shrubs when appropriate.
* Remove dead, broken, or hazardous branches.
* Remove crape myrtle suckers and dead limbs without heavy pruning.
* Address branches obstructing sidewalks, driveways, or walkways when necessary.
❌ WHAT TO AVOID PRUNING:
* Spring-flowering shrubs, such as azaleas, that have already developed next year’s flower buds.
* Hydrangeas that bloom on old wood.
* Healthy live oak and red oak branches unless necessary. Oak wilt precautions are important year-round.
* Plants you’re unsure about—improper pruning can damage healthy growth.
