Here is the page from the HyPer9 manual that outlines operating temperature specs. (This might get too technical for some of the audience members 🧐)

Nominal operating range for the controller is -40° to +55°C (131°F).
Nominal for the motor is -40°C to +120°C (248°F)

The next couple screenshots of the SmartView app are from today’s drive to Trader Joe’s and back in 104°F weather

As you can see above, the hottest the motor got was about 85°C, which is nowhere near its ceiling threshold. Well within operating parameters. Also take into account that the HyPer9 motor is not liquid cooled - ambient air cooled solely. Nice.

Above is the controller tab, showing the max temp of 64.1°C, which is about 10° more than the normal operating range, but much less than the 80°C threshold when the controller begins to cut back.

Still safe, since this is an extreme example of ambient operating temps. But I’m certain the temperature would have quickly pushed to the cut back threshold without liquid cooling.

I am going to investigate increasing my pump speed (the Phoenix 🐦‍🔥has a less beefy
Koolance pump than The Swan 🦢)

Interestingly, at freeway speeds, the controller temp settled at around 53°C. What pushed the controller temperature higher was regenning on surface streets!

This is a step-by-step walk-through of the replacement of all my Porsche 914 exterior lights with the Spokeworks LED circuit boards. This includes the front and rear running lights, turn signals, brake and reverse lights.
