In life, you meet certain people who truly stand out—people who inspire others, represent the very best of humanity, and genuinely make a difference.
Over the past six months, I’ve had the pleasure of racing with the Tri-C Karters in Southern California. During that time, I’ve met some fantastic people and have really enjoyed being part of their racing community. One person who has especially stood out is K.C. Cook.
I first met K.C. about seven months ago after dropping off a sponsored kart for his race team, Precision Driving Concepts. Since then, I’ve gotten to know his customers, his friends, and the incredible work he does for karting. K.C. helps introduce children to the sport, teaches them how to drive and compete safely, and instills the hard work, discipline, and skills needed to become successful—both on and off the racetrack.
While flying to Florida on vacation, I listened to K.C.’s episode of the Full Caster Podcast. He shared the story behind the BOOST Foundation and its mission to support children with cystic fibrosis and help advance cystic fibrosis research. The episode was incredibly informative, moving, and inspirational.
Earlier this year, K.C. and I discussed finding a more affordable engine option that would allow him to remain on the track while training young drivers, rather than continually purchasing and maintaining a Tillotson 225 Gen 2. After hearing his full story and gaining a better understanding of what the BOOST Foundation provides to children and families, I knew Trackside Engines needed to become involved.
Trackside Engines is honored to partner with K.C. Cook and the BOOST Foundation by helping keep him on the racetrack with the four-stroke practice engines he needs to continue training and inspiring young drivers. We have already built and dyno-tested his first engine, and it will be shipped to him this week so he can put it to work with his kids at the racetrack.
We are incredibly honored to support K.C., the BOOST Foundation, and the entire Precision Driving Concepts team. What K.C. does reaches far beyond racing, and we are proud to play a small part in helping him continue that work.
