“What is a Disaster Detail?” A disaster detail is a detail aimed to restore whatever is possible on a car that has damage and messes far beyond normal wear and tear. These details range from doing what we can within a certain budget, to a full “make it as perfect as possible,” no holds barred, multiple day effort. As always, we remind clients that our skill set is in cleaning, and not necessarily repairing cars.

Disaster details are an important time to go over expectations, goals, and a discussion of the labor and cost that goes into making as much progress as possible (within the parameters the client and detailer set). This client agreed to about a 1/2 day of labor, and was happy with a massive improvement on the panels, seats, and most importantly, the odor! We were able to get most of the stains out, but as you can see, the front passenger seat was significantly damaged and did not get “perfect.” If your car is in a tough spot, call or message us to talk today!

Some details come with a story… This Corvette was our client’s prize possession that got left for dead in the woods, for years, while he was deployed. We gave it everything we had and got it clean and smelling right, but some of damage could not be undone. We always encourage clients and prospective clients to use detailing for preservation, not renovation.

Something I’ve noticed is that it’s very hard to find a price for detailing shops listed on their website or page. The long story short, our average detail is $250.

It may seem like detailing shops are being evasive, but this industry is so subjective that we as detailers need to SEE the car, and TALK to you to make sure we are on the same page. Everybody, detailers included, has a little bit of a different perspective on what is included or needed in a detail. One of our clients asked us a few weeks ago- how can I tell what a ceramic coat LOOKS LIKE? That is a great question, that we had no visuals on since we always leave our cars dry! Well, now we do. A healthy ceramic coat is on the right- water beads, runs off easily, and does not “stick.” That’s what protected paint looks like!

On the left, we have a truck that needs a ceramic coat (or a yearly retouch- that’s what this service was). Water should not be settling and “sheeting” on your car- if it is, call us for a professional and affordable ceramic coat detail!
