PICKING AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP :

So your car is having issues or needs routine maintenance, you have lots of choices but where do you go? I recommend to take it to a technician owned business.
Going to a big chain store they will have all the hype and gimmicks to get you in. Once they have your car you will inevitably be hit with an up sale. You have the choice but they have many pressure tactics. The manager's pay is dependent on volume, so are the sales and technicians. They draw the least experienced techs who are under pressure to find and sell more.
Next, going to the dealership, they have good technicians, facilities and equipment. The service department is also under pressure to up sale as a service department is really just a necessity for the sales of new vehicles, not necessarily a money generator for the business. Good working environment, generally attracts good technicians but also huge overhead and high repair costs are the result.
Then you have the investor / business owner ran establishments. They primarily exist because the auto repair industry can be lucrative and have a good ROI. The facilities are often sub-par because the owners don't have a good understanding of the industry and mostly are concerned with the cost, not the outcome of the product or the quality of the repair. These facilities usually draw mediocre techs.
Last, you have the technician owned repair facility. A good mechanic's primary focus is to fix whatever they are working on, it's passion. With these facilities you often get one on one with the person who will be fixing your car so there is not all the layers between you and and the ones diagnosing and repairing your car, less chance of miss communication. The owner's primary objective is to fix your car and get paid to do it. With lower costs and passion for the job you often get more bang for your buck and someone who cares. These facilities often have great techs who share their passion with the owners.
The choice is yours, I am just presenting some information to be considered. When it comes to having your car serviced or repaired, I ask you to consider me.
