Today we diagnosed a 2015 Chevy Impala that came in with three distinct issues: a check engine light, a rear suspension noise, and a clicking sound coming from under the dashboard.

Rather than guessing at the causes, we performed a full diagnostic breakdown:

Check Engine Light: We performed a smoke test on the EVAP system and found that the hardline connecting to the purge valve was missing its internal plastic insert and rubber seals. This likely occurred during a previous purge valve replacement.

Suspension Noise: The noise was isolated to faulty rear struts.

Dashboard Clicking: The clicking was traced to a failing right temperature blend door actuator.

Accurate diagnostics ensure the repair is done right the first time. If your vehicle is experiencing mechanical issues or has a warning light on, contact us to schedule an appointment.

Another 5.3L Silverado in the bay for the infamous EcoTec3 "knocking noise," but this one had a twist!
While most people immediately blame a collapsed Active Fuel Management (AFM/DOD) lifter when these engines start knocking, this truck suffered a different kind of failure. A standard (non-cyl-canceling) lifter actually spun inside its plastic lifter tray. Instead of the roller riding smooth on the camshaft, it got stuck sideways and started eating right into the cam lobe.
To fix it right and make sure this truck doesn't see the inside of a tow truck again anytime soon, we tore it down and did a complete top-end overhaul:
Brand new upgraded camshaft to replace the chewed-up factory unit.
Full AFM/DOD Delete: Gone are the failure-prone displacement-on-demand components.
Upgraded non-DOD solid lifters and brand new trays for maximum reliability.
Now this 5.3L is buttoned back up, tuned, and running smoother than the day it left the assembly line.
Got a weird tick or knock under the hood of your truck? Don't wait until it turns into a major teardown. Bring it by the shop and let us get it sorted!

Today, the owner of a 2019 Dodge Charger requested a replacement air conditioning compressor due to a noise issue.

Upon opening the hood, they discovered that the air conditioning compressor clutch was not spinning.
We were able to verify that the noise was originating from the water pump, and the air conditioning compressor clutch was only temporarily cycling to regulate its pressures. We take pride in providing our customers with transparency, expertise, and avoiding over-selling.

A customer arrived with their 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, which was nearing 202,000 miles.

They sought a routine oil change but also requested an inspection for a planned 2,300-mile road trip in a week.

Our expertise shines here. We conducted a comprehensive service inspection and identified necessary repairs before the vehicle could safely undertake such a journey. We discovered several issues, including leaking transmission oil cooler lines, leaking valve covers gaskets, highly contaminated brake fluid, and spark plugs that had exceeded their service interval.

By addressing these concerns, we ensured the customer’s safety and provided them with a reliable vehicle for their upcoming road trip.

Today, we are reprogramming an AWD Control module on a 2020 Ford Explorer for a local repair shop. The vehicle exhibited a wrench light on the dashboard and set a trouble code for the front axle disconnect actuator.

Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that directly addresses this issue and eliminates the need for this actuator. However, it is essential to note that this process requires a dealer’s reflashing. We visited the repair shop and performed the necessary reprogramming for them in their service bay.

Shoutout to one of our repeat customers for bringing their 2012 Chevy Cruze back to Hurts Auto Solutions. We handled a key programming job for them about a year ago, and this week they brought it in to get the AC sorted out.
The system was losing refrigerant, but standard UV leak dye didn't show a single trace of a leak anywhere.

Instead of guessing, we used our electronic refrigerant leak detector to sniff out the system. We were able to pinpoint the exact failure point on a hard AC line that the dye completely missed.
We got the line replaced, recharged the system, and it's blowing cold again.
If your vehicle's AC isn't holding a charge and standard dye tests aren't finding the issue, give us a call. We have the diagnostic tools to find the leaks that standard methods miss.
