It’s always appreciated when you see an issue and the customer approves the repair and since the transmission was already out, it made for massive labor savings for them to NOT address it later. I’ve said before and I will say it again, we have the best customers!

I don’t know how this is going to pan out, but if I can master a new skill, 4L60E rebuilds might just become a new service we can offer for less than rebuilt unit costs. Luckily a customer is allowing me to try it on their truck. The issue that lead to this was, reverse went out. We are using a WIT rebuild kit, The Beast shell, new separater plate, Corvette servo along with new TTC, EPC & valve body solenoids to ensure the parts aren’t going to be the issue, just the rebuilder lol

This is the guts of a blend door actuator. Just tiny plastic gears. A tip to save your blend door actuators is, don’t switch the flow of air from face, feet or windshield, while your fan is on a higher setting than the minimum.

On today’s episode of how come the labor is that much? It can’t be that hard to get to. Thank the engineer that placed it there. There is no short cut to some of these jobs, unfortunately and if you zoom in to the left of the part you’ll see a blend door actuator, that can fail as well, this is how a $60 part with only 3 fasteners, can cost hundreds to replace. A tip to save your blend door actuators is, don’t switch the flow of air from face, feet or windshield, while your fan is on a higher setting than the minimum.
