25 YEARS. NEVER FORGOTTEN. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago today, our country woke up to a morning that none of us could have imagined—and none of us will ever forget.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives. Families lost husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and friends. First responders ran toward danger while everyone else was trying to escape it. Ordinary people showed extraordinary courage, compassion, and sacrifice.

For those who were old enough to remember, we remember exactly where we were. We remember the confusion, the fear, and the overwhelming feeling that our country had suddenly changed forever.

But we also remember what came afterward.

We remember strangers helping strangers.
We remember firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military members, and countless civilians answering the call.
We remember American flags appearing everywhere.
We remember a nation standing together.

Twenty-five years later, the buildings may have been rebuilt and the world may have moved forward, but the lives lost that day are not forgotten.

Today, we remember the 2,977 people who were killed on 9/11 and the many more who have since lost their lives from the lasting effects of that day. We remember the families who have carried that loss for 25 years. And we honor the heroes who gave everything trying to save others.

May we never forget the lives behind the numbers.

May we never forget the courage behind the headlines.

And may we never forget that, in one of the darkest moments in our history, we saw some of the very best of humanity.

A few minutes saved is never worth risking your life—or someone else’s.

When you’re behind the wheel, slow down, stay alert, and never try to beat a train across the tracks. Trains can take more than a mile to come to a complete stop, even when the engineer sees the danger.

While you’re at it, remember that there are distracted and impatient drivers everywhere. Keep your head on a swivel, leave a little earlier, obey traffic laws, and give yourself the time and space to react.

Your family would rather you be a few minutes late than never make it home.
