Jack Dempsey, "The Manassas Mauler," fights an exhibition match at Pop Soper's Ranch just above Ojai on Highway 33. Dempsey trained at the famous boxing camp, and boxing fans, including Al "Scarface "Capone would attend to feel the pre-fight excitement. Pop Soper was featured in the Ojai Quarterly's Winter 2018 edition with the story by Mark Lewis.
