MANAGER’S MINUTE!

10/07/2026

What’s That Wednesday? 🔍

See the little metal tab touching the brake rotor? Our technician calls this the “infamous tab shim.”

A brake pad shim is a thin piece of metal that helps reduce brake noise. In this photo, a tab appears to have shifted into the rotor’s path, where it can scrape as the wheel turns. That’s one reason a new brake noise deserves a closer look!

Did you spot the tab before we pointed it out? 👀

🔧 Tech Tip Tuesday with Brian, our Shop Foreman:

Rainy season is on its way, and a clear windshield makes all the difference!

💧 Rain-X or a similar water repellent helps rain bead up and roll off your windshield.

🧊 When freezing weather arrives, lifting your wiper blades while parked can help keep them from sticking to the glass.

🧼 Clean your windshield regularly to reduce streaking and wiper chatter and help your blades last longer.

If it’s time for new wipers, 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄!

🔧 Fun Fact Friday: Did you know what a timing chain repair entails? 🤔

Sometimes, the engine has to come out! Logan is tackling timing chain components on this Toyota Highlander, and reaching them means lowering the engine out from UNDER the vehicle and working at ground level. 🤯

The timing chain keeps the crankshaft and camshafts in sync so the valves open and close at the right time. Replacing its components takes precision—and, in this case, some serious disassembly!

🍂 THURSDAY THOUGHTS | Cooling System Service

We usually think about our cooling system when it’s hot outside… but what about when temperatures start dropping? 🤔

Your vehicle’s cooling system works year-round. Proper coolant protects against freezing, helps regulate engine temperature, and plays an important role in keeping your heater working properly.

🔧 WHAT WE DO WEDNESDAY | Battery & Electrical 🔋

Cool mornings are coming... and nobody wants to find out their battery is tired when they're already running late. 🍂😬

Fall is a great time to have your battery and charging system checked before colder weather puts additional demands on them.

At Pape Automotive, we can inspect and diagnose:

🔋 Batteries
⚡ Alternators & Charging Systems
🔑 Starters
💡 Electrical Systems
🔎 Parasitic Draws & Electrical Problems

Slow crank? Dim lights? Battery warning light? Your vehicle may already be dropping some hints.

Get it checked this fall—because *click...click...click* is a terrible way to start a cold morning. 😂

That’s What We Do Wednesday!

🍂 TIRE TUESDAY | SERVICE SPOTLIGHT 🚗💦

Fall is here—and wet roads are right behind it! 🌧️

Your tires are your vehicle’s connection to the road, and as the weather changes, good tread and proper alignment become even more important.

🛞 NEW TIRES
Good tread helps channel water away from your tires, giving you better traction and control on wet roads.

🔧 WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Proper alignment helps keep your tires making even contact with the road while preventing uneven wear that can shorten the life of your new tires.

Good tires + proper alignment = a better foundation for wet-weather driving.

Before the rainy season settles in, make sure your vehicle is ready for those slick Oregon roads. 🍁🌧️
