81 Speedway Race Recap — 8/22 🏁🏆

Sweet finally got the monkey off his back and parked the Super Stock in Victory Lane!

Starting 2nd in the heat, Sweet picked up the win and earned the outside pole for the feature. When the green flag dropped, he wasted no time taking the lead on Lap 1 and never looking back!

It’s been an unlucky season for the with multiple motor and parts failures, but last night Sweet had the Super Stock dialed in and BAD fast!

Late SaltCity Speedway Recap — 8/21 🏁

Luck just didn’t fall our way for our final points night of the season.

Colten started 4th in his heat and moved up to 2nd on the opening lap, but unfortunately had to pull off early with a hurt engine, ending the night for the .

Bubba started on the pole of his heat and shuffled back to 5th before making a late charge to finish 3rd. He started 5th in the feature but a problem with the RF ended his night early as well.

It wasn’t the night we were looking for, but sometimes the cards just don’t fall your way. We did however enjoy seeing all the fans who stopped by to visit after the races!

As always, we can’t thank everyone enough who helps this team week in and week out. From our drivers and crew to our sponsors, family, friends, and everyone who supports JOM Motorsports, we appreciate you more than you know!

Big Announcement! 🏁🔥

Friday night will be our final race at SaltCity for the year and our final points race of the season!

We’ve got something special planned for the kiddos! 🏎️💨 We have body panels from our cars from last season that we’ll be giving away to kids who come see us in the pits, while supplies last!

81 Speedway Recap | 8/1

We’re still trying to get the monkey off our back at our home track, but we’re finally starting to find some speed at 81.

Colten started 7th in the heat race and worked his way up to 4th before getting sent to the back after getting tangled up with the 3rd-place car. Drove back from 8th to finish 5th.

We rolled off 10th in the feature, but our night took a turn coming off Turn 4 on the opening lap when we got caught up in a wreck. The impact ripped the right-front shock mount off the car, leaving the shock laying on the racetrack.

Colten said to hell with it, and drove the remaining 14 laps with no RF shock. He did everything he could to avoid the holes, keep the car underneath him, and bring it home in one piece. Somehow, he still managed to fight his way to an 8th place finish.

Not the result we were hoping for, but we’re encouraged by the speed we’ve been finding. We’ll get the car fixed up and be ready to take another shot next week.

Salt City Recap - 7/10

Friday night definitely threw us a few curveballs.

We battled issues with the car during hot laps and the heat race, which kept us from getting any meaningful laps to dial the car in. After the heat, the crew tracked down the problem, made the necessary changes, and had the ready for the feature.

Even with essentially no setup laps, Colten drove the Autism Speaks from 12th up to 6th before he had to pull in early after the car started getting hot. We were credited with a 7th-place finish.

It wasn’t the night we were hoping for, but considering how the evening started, we’ll take the positives. We loaded the car in one piece, found some speed, and gathered some valuable laps to build on heading into next race.

A huge thank you to the Salt City crew for giving us an awesome racing surface all night. Congratulations to Jayce Reimer and his team on picking up the win!

This Friday, we’re headed to the historic half-mile at SaltCity Racing in Hutchinson for the Bob Burkhart Memorial Race.

Colten Kelley will be back behind the wheel of the JOM Motorsports Autism Speaks .
