John "Johnny" Andrews Ley, 72, of Quitman, Georgia, passed away on October 23, 2025, at Langdale Hospice in Valdosta, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on February 17, 1953, in Quitman to the late Sarah Sims Ley and William A. (Bill) Ley.

Johnny, as he was known by all his family and friends, had many talents and passions in life. He always loved playing a joke on anyone that came along. He was full of life and laughter. Early in life he worked with his family as a repairman at their family business, Ley's Radio and TV Repair Shop. Soon the love of fast cars took him into the world of mechanics, owning his own business. After a tragic fire and months of recovery he took on a new love of selling automobiles with Griner Motors. After retiring from Griner Motors, he followed his passion for truck driving and was able to serve the local farmers. This opened his passion for being with people and he never met a stranger. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and served as a deacon and treasurer for his church for many years. Johnny was currently serving as treasurer for the Brooks County RNC. He was a devoted husband, father, granddaddy, brother and friend.

Johnny is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 52 years, Debbie Ley of Quitman, his children and their spouses, John and Catharyn Ley of Perry and Kati and Alan Mason of Quitman; his precious grandchildren, Laci Ley, Kaiden Mason, Gage Mason and Leyton Mason; brothers, Billy (Debbie) Ley of Quitman and Gregg (Cathy) Ley of Quitman, Ga. and a sister, Sara (Steven) Nichols of East Bend, N.C., as well as several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 3091 Troupeville Rd. Quitman, Ga. with Pastor Clay Luke officiating. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home in Quitman.
