Steve Huff Heavenly Birthday Week Begins Today

This week, we invite you to join the Steve Huff Memorial Foundation in celebrating the life, passion, accomplishments, and lasting legacy of Steve Huff. On October 16, Steve would have turned 60.

Steve was known for his determination, his hands-on talent, his love of racing, and the way he encouraged others to believe in themselves. From the garage to the racetrack, he showed that curiosity, hard work, practical skill, and perseverance can turn a dream into something extraordinary.

But Steve's legacy is about more than records, racing, and accomplishments. It is also about making time to encourage others, especially young people, to recognize their own strengths, pursue what inspires them, and discover their own superpowers.

Throughout the week, we will share daily posts remembering the many sides of his life: the racer, the builder, the mentor, the friend, and the man whose example continues to inspire others. We will also be offering discounts on Foundation Team Store limited edition items all week long, so keep an eye out.

The Steve Huff Memorial Foundation carries that legacy forward by encouraging youth to explore careers in the skilled trades, develop hands-on skills, and build a future with purpose.

Join the Challenge
Steve would have turned 60, so we're asking 60 people to give $60 by his birthday on October 16. Can't do $60? Any amount helps, and every gift goes toward encouraging young people in the skilled trades. Give, then comment to let us know you're in.

Foundation Announcement: A Major Milestone Achieved

We are thrilled to announce that The Steve Huff Memorial Foundation has achieved our primary goal for 2026 — regaining full control of all of Steve Huff's intellectual property and fulfilling one of Steve's final wishes to keep his name, intellectual property, and accomplishments under the care of his family and the Foundation that was created to ensure "His Legacy Lives On."

This victory came after nearly a year of certified letters, court filings, legal submissions, and direct correspondence with Facebook's Legal and Intellectual Property teams. We couldn't have achieved this without our legal team and each and every one of you who stood by us and encouraged us not to give up — thank you.

Now that all of Steve's digital assets, domains, and intellectual property are secured under the control of the Foundation, we begin the important work of cataloging everything and adding it to our official website so Steve's legacy is properly preserved for all to see.

Please note: This experience and the intellectual property fight we endured has made it clear that we must firmly protect Steve's legacy. Any future use of Steve Huff's name, image, logos, or other intellectual property without prior written authorization or a licensing agreement from The Steve Huff Memorial Foundation is strictly prohibited and will be addressed accordingly.

Our next mission: securing a permanent home for Steve's current technology dragster and memorabilia, so it can be shared with future generations who will be able to enjoy and learn Steve's story and be inspired to chase greatness and find their own superpower.

Stay tuned — the best is yet to come.

Beyond heart broken as we learn of a fellow teammates loss. When they made Wally Johnston they broke the mold.

2017 Steve met Wally in Montana to talk about buying his hydroplane and knew he had found a kindred spirit. Steve struck a deal that he would pay full price, if Wally signed on to teach Steve everything he knows about hydroplane racing. OHH what a ride! Bumper sticker on the trailer "I'm FASTER than you think you are".. One other caveat to the hydroplane sale is that we had to keep Red Vines in our pits at all times. "for the kids" notice who is eating them in the video.

Wally drove with no cell phone, he would just show up. His wife Michelle would call Jill asking when he left a race, so she could try to figure the approx. time when Wally might return home.

One of Steve's first heat wins with Wally on the radio, before the race was even over, Wally asked Steve what he wanted on his burger when he got back to the pits. It was Wally's way of letting Steve know he was doing just fine and to enjoy the ride.

Our first year racing the Agitator hydroplane, in Oak Harbor this young kid walked up to the team and said, hey that's my grandpa's scooter, I helped him rebuild it. We instantly threw a Huff shirt on Ty and made him part of the team. Getting to know the Johnston family over the years was just another part of the Huff Motorsports racing family we grew over 30 years of racing.

Hey Wally, take Steve out for a burger tonight. I'm sure you guys have some more stories to swap.

Blast from the past with the Destination Harley-Davidson of Silverdale Buell XBRR on display at the World of Speed.

This is the year that Steve got to meet every racer’s hero Mario Andretti.

Wishing our friends at Destination Harley the best as they close the Tacoma shop and shift to the Silverdale shop exclusively. Our team celebrates Ed Wallace’s contributions to our hydroplane, flat track, Superhooligan, and land apeed racing legacy.

Wearing one of his favorite sweatshirts Garage Asylum.

Steve Huff of Huff Motorsports has been a fixture in the powersports industry for over three decades. He's built some pretty awesome bikes in his career, mos...

Love it Brent Hall Racing!!

A great way to end a busy week! Hamlin Robinson School’s Scoop magazine, came out online and in the mail today. They wrote a story about me visiting with the kids, my brother and about the Oberto family who’s long history with Hydroplane Racing and previous owners of the land the school is built on were connected in the story. Attached is a picture and dropping a link to the full article in chat. I will be bringing the Hydroplane simulator for them at lunch in April. We are making new fans!!

“Striving Toward Your Dreams, One Lap at a Time
In February, as part of our enrichment programming, HRS hosted Brent Hall to speak with students about his highspeed life in hydroplane racing. Brent’s story is one that inspires and has the lesson to dream big and to not let adversity detract you from your goals.

Enriching our students through cultural, historic, civic, artistic, and scientific thinking experiences enhances our educational program. Bringing guests, such as Brent Hall to campus, is supported by the Joan Beauregard Endowment for Discovery and Enrichment.”
