Huge congratulations to Francis A. Jr and Francis Anand for placing 2nd in best Datsun 510 class at JCCS in its first public appearance !!! I’ve never seen so many Datsun 510s, 240z and Hakosuka in one place and the competition was tough!!! From all the rare NOS parts, custom paint(Garageworks) and custom machined engine bay parts by his father (Francis Anand). It truly is an amazing backyard build. I truly appreciate the opportunity to have small part in the build and to have attended the show with you both. If you haven’t already seen the super street article on them and their Datsun builds check it out.

As far as the prep for the show, it was thankfully drama free. The car was discreetly washed in the hotel garage and covered with a one time use car cover overnight. Luckily the next morning, I didn’t have to deal with any morning fog as it was a scorcher. Once parked at the show, the wheels and windows were the only things that were wiped down. No detail spray, waterless wash, or Costco towel touched the actual paint 😆😎. Even with a layer of dust building up towards the end of the day, the car was still looking super wet!!!

Some photos of the heat at this year’s 21st annual JCCS!! I just realized that I missed a whole section of the show 🤦🏻‍♂️. With the temps reaching 100 degrees on the water front, you can tell I stayed in the Toyota / Nissan part of the show 😂. It was still a great time running into people that travel from the Bay Area to attend and show. Tag the owners if you known them!!!

With 58k on the odometer this Subaru Forester was brought in for the tier 1.2 coating package from a referring client. The car is garaged so it had minor contaminates, but it did exhibited dried out trim and swirls in the paint. The owner stated the car was only washed at the dealer or local carwashes in the area so the harsh soap is definitely to blame. The car received a decon and full correction on the pearl white paint. The 1.2 coating was then applied to the paint, plastic trim, glass and wheels.

Too many photos to squeeze into one post but here’s a recap of the concourse package for my returning client Francis A. Jr’s newest builds. A fully custom backyard built 1972 Datsun 510 painted in a shade of mango green by Garageworks. The car was originally painted by another body shop but after some time, tons of defects appeared in the paint, and the car was sent to Garageworks for a full rehab. After almost a year of letting the paint cure and reassembly, the car was handed to me for the final touches with the concourse package. The car arrived with the some haze and minor sanding marks which is normal. It was easy to find the perfect combo that worked best for the correction but you could tell Garageworks used some A1 clear coat because the paint was super hard. Had to use the old sledgehammer approach and afterwards still has plenty of clear coat 😂. The engine bay, engine cover, underside of the hood, door panels and glass also received a minor paint correction as well. The upgraded LZ23 motor really made it easy to get into the engine bay with my new polisher. Once finished, literally every part of the car was coated to give it that super wet look and enhance the flake in the paint. During the correcting process the car got me kinda emotional. When my Dads C3 vette was stolen he picked up a 240z shell to build but never could get it to pass smog back in the day. I’d like to think this detail but a smile on his face. Hope y’all get this see this thing driving around the bay or at JCCS in Long Beach this year!!

Fresh off the lot, a returning client brought in a 2026 Kia Carnival hybrid in for the New Car package. Being a business owner, they’ve enjoyed the benefits of having a car coated and have brought both leased and owned vehicles in for protection. The car arrived with some heavy contaminants from purchase. Once a proper decon was done to the paint, a quick polish and coat was next. The wheels, glass, and trim were also coated.

With 123k on the odometer a returning client brought in his second Prius after his first one was totaled in a 5mph hit. The client does a lot of home health visits with this car and the Tier 2 coating package was the perfect fit as the client wasn’t chasing perfection but rather an enhancement of the paint’s finish. The car arrived with tons holograms, swirls, scratches and white paint overspray on the paint, trim and glass. After the minor correction was done, the tier 2 coating was applied which really helps add shine and pop to the flake in the paint.

Returning clients brought in their newly purchased 2026 Lexus TX550H+ for the concourse package. Recently left the Audi/VW group and picked up this Lexus due to a growing family. The car itself was in decent shape but did have waterspots in the paint finish. The car supposedly had Permaplate installed but after a full decon, only sections of the vehicle were coated. Minor correction was done to a few sections of the vehicle. Once that was done, the car’s paint, windows, door jams, wheels and trim were coated. The owner also had all the chrome bits wrapped gloss black which were coated as well. Tasteful move imo. The interior also received UV protection as well. Wish the GX was available with the Java interior and Alcantara bits it.

With 13k on the clock a returning client brought in his 2024 GR Corolla for the Tier 1.2 coating. This client has had his previous cars coated by me but unfortunately when he purchased this car, I was unable to coat it as I was on paternity leave. He had the front of the car PPF’d and coated by a shop in the South Bay but after 2 years he was not happy with the coating. Even with this car being daily driven and parked outside in the elements the coating should have lasted a minimum 3 years as that shop advertised. A few maintenance washes were done by us to see if the coating really failed on the paint and PPF, which it did. So a correction was done to the PPF to add some clarity back and paint to remove water spots and contaminates. Once that was all addressed the car was fully coated.

A 1969 Datsun 2000 roadster was brought in from San Francisco for the Tier 1.2 coating. The car itself has been going through a refresh so it was fitting to get the paint looking good as well. The owner would previously get the car waxed but it never received a paint correction or coating before. The A multi stage correction was done to the paint as it had swirls and heavy orange peel in the rear from a respray. Our 1.2 coating was then applied which gave this orange paint that extra gloss and depth. With being a daily driver for this client the ease of cleaning and drying will be welcomed. This SR motor swapped Datsun was definitely a treat to work on.

With 400 miles on the odometer, a fellow cyclist brought in his brand new 2026 Subaru forester in for the new car prep package. The vehicle arrived with some slight discoloration on the plastic trim after the dealership installed a rear tow hitch. The car was also covered in contaminants which seem to look like industrial fall out from where the dealership was storing it and not the usual stuff from transport from the factory. The car received a heavy chemical decontamination, refined polish and re-dye of the trim. The car’s trim, paint, glass, and wheels all received coating treatment.
