Monday Maintenance Tip: All About Brakes

Follow these simple steps for proper brake maintenance

1. Check your brake fluid. You need to make sure the brake fluid is good and that it is at the appropriate level.
Change the brake fluid if necessary. If your brake fluid has a milky color, it means that water or condensation has infiltrated the fluid and you need to change the brake fluid

2. Inspect the brake pads & rotors to ensure they’re still looking good. You can do this by removing the tire. If the brake pads are showing wear to the extent that you can't see much of the pad, it’s time to replace them.

Are your brakes trying to tell you something?
Could be time to get them inspected if...

1. If you hear noises such as squeaking, grinding, or clicking
2. Pedal nearly touches the floor before if engages
3. Have to apply hard pressure before brakes engage
4. Vibration or pulsing, even with normal braking
5. Vehicle pulls to one side when braking
6. Brakes grab at the slightest pressure applied to the pedal
7. Brake light is illuminated on your vehicles dashboard
