I want to give a shout out to Roy at Hamby Trucking! Not only did he do a great job delivering and spreading the gravel we needed to fix Foster road after the flood, but he gifted the team that was helping me, with a couple of very cool hats! Thoughtful gestures like that make a big difference with who you choose to do business with! Thank you Roy!

I have so many amazing RV trip memories that inspired me to open Vic’s Sticks RV Park in Tennessee! I can’t wait to reopen once I get the main entrance road flood repairs done.

Thank you all for hanging in there with me and keeping me thinking positive despite Mother Natures attempts to gift me a deep fishing hole!

In Loving Memory of Dolly Parton 1946 - 2026

Today, Tennessee—and the world—feels a little less bright.

I have always admired Dolly Parton, not simply for the extraordinary success she achieved, especially as a woman, but for the person she remained after achieving it. She came from humble beginnings in the mountains of East Tennessee and overcame poverty, obstacles and expectations to build an extraordinary life—yet she never seemed to forget where she came from or the people who helped shape her.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful examples was the way she honored her father, who could not read or write, by creating the Imagination Library and putting free books into the hands of millions of children. She gave generously when her Tennessee neighbors faced tragedy, supported lifesaving research during COVID, and quietly used her success again and again to support and help others.

Dolly also showed us something about faith that I deeply respected. She was proudly Christian while believing there was room at the table for everyone. She treated ALL people with dignity and kindness and seemed far more interested in loving people than judging them.

Through it all, she carried herself with humor, humility, optimism and remarkable grace. She could laugh at herself, stand firmly in who she was, and somehow make people from very different walks of life feel welcome.

Dolly Parton’s music will live on, but I believe her greatest legacy may be the countless lives she made a little better simply because she was here. And I hope her life will serve as an inspiration for each of us to love a little more.

Rest well, Dolly. Thank you for never forgetting your roots, for taking care of so many communities, and for showing us just how far a little kindness can travel. ❤️

Last two loads were crusher run on top to create a nice smooth compact-able surface for Foster Road and up into the RV Park! It is ready for guests now! One road done, one more to go!

Second load of 57’s delivered and spread! It just keeps getting better! Two more loads tomorrow and we will be in better shape than before the floods!

Very excited to see the first load of 3’s dropped over the road fabric today on Foster Road and before any heavy rains! 👍🏻 D and T are working to get the big stones spread across the previously flooded areas to firm up the base and shore up that road for RV traffic again! It is looking great already!

Progress is being made on the side access road into or out of Vic’s Sticks RV Park. The flood waters have drained and the road dried out enough for my neighbor to help us clear out debris and smooth out the road with his awesome little tractor. So very thankful!

We were able to pull logs that drifted down creek during the flash flood to replace the curbs above the culverts. And we are laying road fabric over the worst areas before the delivery of the 3’s today or Monday.

The 3’s are baseball size rocks that we will compact down on top of the fabric to create a firmer base layer over the muddiest areas. Then once it is rolled and compacted in, the plan is to fill the gaps with a second layer of 57’s and finally a top layer of crusher run. 57 stone is a clean, uniform-sized aggregate (mostly 3/4 inch) with all the fine dust removed to allow water flow, whereas crusher run is a dense-graded blend of crushed stone and stone dust designed to compact into a solid, tight mat.

It wasn’t just the main entrance road, the side entrance/exit road to Vic’s Sticks RV Park took quite a beating too and hit with so much debris carried by the high waters! But the GOOD NEWS is that the road has drained and dried up enough to where it is now drivable! Thank God! Being able to drive back onto the property is HUGE! We will be cleaning it up and getting it looking good over the next couple of weeks!

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a hydrology engineer, but apparently those folks can calculate what size culvert might be best for the active waterway you’re trying to get across.

Since Texas had 2025-2026 back to back years of flash floods from biblical heavy rains, and an unexpected 30+ foot wall of water tear out the Guadalupe, I decided I better take heed and make some calls to get the best information before deciding on using the same Culverts, Larger Culverts, a Box Culvert or a Bridge. If we get the same wall of water twice in Tennessee like Texas got, I’d hate to not be better prepared next year.

In the meantime, here is another view of what our 13” of rain did to my entrance road that night and following morning! I am estimating now the water rose from 2 to 12 feet and flooded out a 30 to 40 foot area of my road and embankment.

We will “git ‘er done!” We will get Vic’s Sticks RV Park reopened again! Maybe then, you all can come try out the new road and the RV sites! We’d love it!
