1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ Off Road pkg.

Here stands, The King of the Mountain! If you or someone you know are in the market for something fun and exciting take a look at this beast. It is a 1989 Jeep Wrangler S with all of the goodies for off roading. This YJ, also know by the affectionate name, "Yuppie Jeep" has been is in good condition both cosmetically and mechanically. While this particular vehicle has not been abused it is an Off Road vehicle and has been modified to be such. The Jeep is powered by the upgraded 4.2L straight 6cyl motor mated to a 5spd manual transmission. Fuel economy was rated at 16\18 mpg which is not bad for an older model vehicle like this. There are two sets of dash equipment. It appears that some of the upper instrumentation does not work however all the lower panel does. The jeep shows to have heat and air but neither is blowing. There is a crack in the windshield and a small hole about two and a half inches in diameter in the bikini top. The radio, spot lights, winch and alarm all work The half door s are removable along with the back seat. The 4x4 engages and operates as it should. American Motors Corporation had designed the 1989 Jeep to be more comfortable on-road. It was a significantly new design with a wider track, slightly less ground clearance, more comfort and improved handling compared to the vehicle before.. The YJ has a leaf spring suspension similar to that of the CJ – however the springs are wider, and has the first Wrangler sported trackbar suspension links and anti-roll bars for improved handling and safety, making it less easy to flip by untrained or unwary drivers. That said, this vehicle has a lot of play in the steering wheel. Mostly due to the size of the tires but also possibly may need linkage fixed or track bar and steering box adjusted.
