Hello to all our customers, friends, and ALL Y’ALL!
I am Anne Pence – humble wife of Chris Cole – who, with help from many others, developed the I4WDTA endorsed Safe-Xtract Vehicle Recovery System, the Safe-Xtract Vehicle Recovery Kits, the Safe-Xtract Vehicle Recovery APP, the patented X-Locks and Pulley Blocks, and the Safe-Xtract Training Program. Basically, the whole nine yards of vehicle recovery.

I am the one who gratefully fulfills your orders. I am the one who is absolutely dismayed when we don’t have your requested products in-house, which from time to time we don’t, and we most appreciate your patience with us.

I am the one who emails you personally, and I just wish to say THANK YOU! I am here for you!

You guys/gals are AWESOME!

P.S. For technical questions and training please call Chris or any of our Safe-Xtract Certified Instructors on our website: https://www.safe-xtract.com/training/

Vehicle Recovery is a dangerous activity, and as with any dangerous activity, people should be trained on their recovery gear before they use it in the field. SAFE-XTRACT SOFT SHACKLES: Not all Soft Shackles are created equal. There are five common soft shackle designs, each having a different strength capacity. The weakest and cheapest of these is the spliced loop single leg made with a diamond knot, which offers about 104% of the single line Minimum Tensile Strength (MTS). The spliced loop single leg design is favored by many manufacturers because it is the easiest to tie and uses the least amount of rope, making it cheaper to manufacture. In contrast, Safe-Xtract uses the strongest design, the button knot double leg. This design uses more rope and it takes much longer to tie the button knot – however, this design offers 225% of the single line MTS. Safe-Xtract has verified this with exhaustive testing in accordance with Cordage Institute testing standards. Spliced loop single leg soft shackles made out of the same material may look similar to the untrained eye, but are less than half the strength of a Safe-Xtract soft shackle. Like we said, not all soft shackles are created equal! With respect to design, Safe-Xtract Soft Shackles are incredibly strong and durable, made in the USA of the highest strength 12-Strand High Molecular Weight Poly-Ethylene (HMPE) rope available. This HMPE is stronger than standard steel cable of the same diameter, yet is more than 6 times lighter – so light it floats! Safe-Xtract Soft Shackles feature a protective high-visibility Neon Orange polyurethane coating and are marked with green loading lines that make safe use intuitive. SX Vehicle Recovery Kits and Packs are engineered such that Safe-Xtract Soft Shackles have a minimum rating of approximately four times winch capacity.

SLP is used when an in-line anchor is available, and when winch capacity is sufficient.
Single Line Pull (SLP) is the simplest and most common winching configuration. The vast majority of vehicle recoveries use the SLP. SLP is simple to execute and requires very little equipment – usually just a WL and a SS to connect the winch line to a TS wrapped around a suitable tree. Assuming no shock load, every component in the SLP chain experiences the load that is applied by the winch. The above diagram shows the loads that could be applied to the recovery equipment in an SLP by a winch on the first layer and with sufficient amperage. You will note that in an SLP, the maximum load applied by the winch to the recovery equipment is maximum winch capacity. Thus the winch will stall ling before any Safe-Xtract gear reaches it’s MTS.

Winches pull most efficiently on the first layer of line on the drum – this is the only layer that offers rated winch pulling capacity. As additional layers of rope are wrapped on the winch drum, the pulling power of the winch is degraded. Safe-Xtract’s Vehicle Recovery Kits include a relatively short winch line (when compared with some of the monster 125’+ ft winch lines out there) and a complimentary-sized HMPE winch line extension – this combination enables the operator to unspool the winch line relatively easily in order to maximize winch power, while still achieving impressive reach through the use of the winch line extension when necessary. It also enables a quicker setup for a longer pull as you do not have to unspool the winch line as far – laying out a winch extension is far quicker – and a shorter winch line is easier to wind back onto the winch drum without overloading one side of the drum. And in the Safe-Xtract kit, both the winch line and winch line extension are rated at approx. double winch rated pull capacity, for increased safety. By combining the winch line extension and the Safe-Xtract X-Lock to shorten the line, one can always pull at the rated winch pulling capacity optimizing winch performance and winch survivability!

Vehicle Recovery is a dangerous activity. With any dangerous activity, people should train on recovery techniques before they exercise them in the field. Safe-Xtract has developed a professional training course that covers all aspects of vehicle recovery, as well as optimal use of all vehicle recovery components found in the incredibly well thought out Safe-Xtract Vehicle Recovery Kit. This Safe-Xtract Vehicle Recovery Training Course is offered through select I4WDTA - The International 4-Wheel Drive Trainers Association LLC Instructors who have subsequently been certified to become Safe-Xtract Certified Instructors. The Safe-Xtract Vehicle Recovery Training course includes both conceptual and practical instruction, with a morning spent in the classroom setting followed by hands-on instruction in the field.
