The Scorpion's first involvement in Unmanned Ground Vehicles was the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge. Preferred Chassis teamed up with CART, Inc. to form team 'Scorpion Fox'. http://cartinc.com/2005-darpa-grand-challenge.html PCF's second involvement was as 'Team Scorpion' in the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. 'Team Scorpion' was made up of Raytheon, University of Arizona, Tucson Embedded Systems, Preferred Chassis Fabrication, and iRobot. www.team-scorpion.com

Today the second production Scorpion arrived at PCF's shop for repairs and adjustments. This MKII has not seen activity since the 1999 SEMA Show when it was in the 4Wheel & OffRoad booth. It only has 469 miles on the odometer!

Tomorrow at Crown’s Cars and Coffee, Preferred Chassis Fabrication Inc. will be bringing out the robotic Scorpion MKIV-A, “Chrome”, for its first display in many years. This vehicle was one of the first to show and prove autonomous ground vehicle capabilities through its involvement in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge as “Team Scorpion Fox”, the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge as “Team Scorpion” and demonstrations for the US Military showing unique UGV control concepts.
