Bittersweet post!

Today marks 100 years of the Miss America organization and my final farewell post for MAO!!!

This organization will forever have a special place in my heart and especially this title!! ♥️ I started in this organization 2 years ago and it has blessed me beyond belief. From placing top 10 at state my first year and achieving the evening wear/SII award, to placing top 5 my second year and achieving the talent award… this organization encourages you to GROW.

From the scholarship, to the sponsors to the sisterhood, the community and the volunteers! I have SO much love.

For my future MAO queens… this organization will change your life for the better and you can never lose if you learn something. AND PLEASE. Be authentically you! Everyone else is already taken ♥️

HUGE thank you to those who have ever helped in this journey, challenged me to be my best, and encouraged my talents. Through this job I have enjoyed representing God, the city of Tucson, Marta and my community.

I hope I made y’all proud 😉 ♥️

This moment was a week ago?!

BACKSTORY on this photo: top 5 was being announced and there was only 1 more name to be called. My heart was racing because I knew how deserving every single one of the women on that stage were. Before the host could even say the final candidate... Sophie turns to me and says “this is you girl...” and I kinda looked at her in disbelief like idk girl... and then I heard “MISS TUCSON OLD PUEBLO!”

I wanted to cry. Sophie that moment meant the world to me and I am so grateful I got to hold your hand in the process. You’ve been such a great friend and you have a heart of gold.

I have so many more stories like this. . This year there were both teens and Miss who all rooted for each other and encouraged each other to be the best even in times where they didn’t feel the best. Through this organization, I’ve met some of the most selfless young women, dedicated state directors and generous sponsors.

I’ve been inhaling these sweet memories from state week. I am still going through all the notes and gifts that I’ve received and honestly balling my eyes out. It has been such a bittersweet ride and I’ve enjoyed it all. This portion of competition is my favorite 🤩 To everyone who came up to me about my talent... know that it meant the world to me that you enjoyed it so much. I honestly thank God and give him all the credit on this entire process.

This program has pushed me in ways I am so grateful for. I have made such great friends through this organization and been able to be poured into and pour out my love to everyone.

If I could describe this years competition in one word it’s: GRATITUDE. Seeing actual smiles, being able to hug those around me, and being able to sing on this stage in front of my family and friends was something I didn’t think I’d be able to do a year ago. There were so many uncertainties and there still are in this world.... but one thing is for certain... little Sierra would be so proud 💜

4th runner up for Miss Arizona 🌵 A picture worth a thousand+ words...There is so much to say. This has been one of the best years ever. It has not been an easy journey...Covid this year has taught me to appreciate so much of the smaller things in life.

Every moment for me was so unreal and to be surrounded by such incredible women was truly an honor. To be a woman of color up on this stage. 🤩 to be a finalist. To win talent. All the encouragement and all the love. I know Marta is so very thrilled for me 🕊 💜

I’ll probably post more once I’ve had some rest... but this state and organization have my heart ♥️ thank you everyone who came out to support... as ....I hope I made you PROUD (Mary) 😉

I am so very excited for you in your new journey as our new Miss Arizona!

💙 💙 💙 💙 ♥️ A 24k Magic night to say the least! Winning preliminary night 2 Talent in the Miss division is still so surreal. I cannot thank everyone enough for your love and support. What made it even sweeter?? My teen won fitness too!!!
