All,
Tomorrow, May 31, my father will open the doors to FBR on Steel Drive for the last time. The space has been cleared out and while many may relish in the idea of not going to work, for him tomorrow will be bittersweet. Feel free to give him a call to boost his spirit. We will be at the shop on and off much of the day.

All,
A heartfelt THANK YOU from all of us at FBR for coming to our ‘Open House’. It was a wonderful day! Many of you came a long way and it was very much appreciated. We are touched by the kind words, support and wonderful stories and pictures you shared. The memories of the day will stay with us and be cherished for a very long time.
If you were not able to make it, we missed you and hope you’ll stop by the shop in the coming weeks. When you do, please sign the guest book and make sure we have your correct contact information so we can update you of Franz’ future plans.
At the end of the evening we were fortunate to have with us three interns who worked with and learned from Franz over the years. They are the three smiling faces standing next to Franz in the picture below.

A few memories from the Bob Akin era with the last 935 and the #5 962. Many don’t know that the two cars raced Daytona in the same year together. Do any of you know what year that was?

Special thanks to Pat and Elizabeth Glover for sending the shop an envelope full of the pictures that you see here. We’ll see you all this Friday, April 20th!

All,
This is Franz’s daughter, Susanne. The stories and photos people are posting are bringing back so many wonderful memories for my Dad and all of us at FBR; please keep sharing! Growing up in my dad’s shop and on the race track, I learned the race is never over until you cross the finish line. I hope to see more posts and images in the coming days and most of all hope you will join us on Friday.
One of my favorite memories is bringing Hurley Haywood yogurt before the races when he was driving one of the cars my dad prepared. If anyone has contact with him or knows how to reach him, share this post so he’s in the loop.

Thanks! Susanne

Friends, yesterday we announced that, after 42 years at our Tucker, Georgia location, Franz Blam Racing will be closing it's doors in May. To celebrate Franz, Lotte, and the rest of the team that has spent days and nights in the shop preparing, maintaining, and restoring some of the finest Porsches in the land, we are hosting a gathering Friday, April 20th from 10:00am until 7:00pm.

This event will be open to anyone who has crossed paths with Franz Blam Racing, as well as anyone who has wanted to meet him in person. On that same note, we are welcoming any cars that FBR has cared for over the years to be displayed during the event.

Finally, as we approach next Friday, we will be sharing photos from all walks of FBR to help outline some of the shop's accomplishments and to rekindle memories from any of you who were present when they were being made. Hopefully, some good conversations flow from what we come up with. Included in this post is our first memory of many.

Thank you all for your support, and we look forward to seeing as many of you as we can April 20th!

With a new record set at Amelia for this 911 RS 3.8, we are curious to know how many of you have ever driven one of these cars? How many of you have seen one in person? If you were the purchaser last weekend, what would your plans be for your new-to-you RS?

The stars of the sale were undoubtedly the 11 lots contained in the “Exclusively Porsche—The 964 Collection” sub-grouping.

Many in the know have been predicting that the current 911 GT3 is Porsche’s swan song to natural aspiration and, if this report is true, they are correct in their prediction. Our question to you is (in your opinion) is a GT3 a GT3 if it is turbocharged?

According to Australia's Motor, the next generation of 911 GT3 will be powered by a turbocharged flat-six, joining most of its peers in the industry-wide exodus to forced induction.

Typically we don’t share racing crash videos, but last weekend there was carnage unlike we’ve ever seen on the street circuit in Macau that was so extraordinary that we’re breaking one of our own rules. We hope that all drivers involved were able to walk away from this one.

With some help from Williams, the folks at Singer have built a car with 500 naturally aspirated horsepower from 4.0 liters in a package that weighs 2,180 pounds. Somehow, it makes their other offerings seem normal, and all we at FBR can say in response is “WOW.”

After months of waiting, the fruits of the Singer-Williams matchup finally take shape. The California-based Porsche restorer and atelier reveled renderings.

If you’ve ever been around seasoned (vintage!) BMW people, you may have heard them refer to the first generation of the M3 as the “real” M3. Here is a history lesson as to why they hold that model in such high esteem. Of course, none of the lamentations in the attached video would mean anything if the car wasn’t a blast to drive, and your friends here at FBR can happily confirm that they are all they say they are!
