Thanksgiving has been officially celebrated as an annual holiday in Canada since November 6, 1879. While the date varied by year and was not fixed, it was commonly the second Monday in October. On January 31, 1957, the Governor General of Canada, Vincent Massey, issued a proclamation that Thanksgiving Day would be observed annually on October 10th. Canadian Thanksgiving is a chance for people to give thanks for fortunes in the past year, including a good harvest. Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness of this complex disease and fund research into its causes, treatment, and cure. Since 1985, individuals, businesses, and communities have come together every October to show their support for the many people affected by breast cancer.
